hey i have a std civic hb and i had a shop do an engine swap for me it has a jdm carberated engine changed to dpfi, std throttle body and 88 dx computer, trannie and axels.
could there be a problem w/ not having a throttle body from a dx? i know stds are bad and all but

the same as all his other posts ill assume.
anyway, from what i think is that you have some serious vacuum problems like a leaking intake gasket, spray water&soap mixture over all the parts in your engine where a gasket is or the end of a hose, i recommend using a spray bottle for this.
that way the mixture will bubble if air is escaping.

If by now you HAVEN'T taken it back to them to fix it then you are an IDIOT!!!!! They performed the swap, you have every right for the car to run. FFS - they are mechanics, the expectation is for the car to run, TAKE IT BACK!!!!!
Other than that, check for vacume leaks, but I bet you that if it's the JDM twin-carb then it's emissions controls are different, the distributor advance will be different and that as a hybrid of a real carb engine with Fi that WAS NOT DESIGNED FOR THAT VARIENT OF THE MOTOR (XT25, GL etc) of course there are going to be issues. Guesses would be vacume hoses (replace them all in case, a good plan anyway), gaskets (spray and look for bubbles as suggested), correct distributor to match the Fi.
By now common sense would suggest that they fucked it up - take it back and tell them to fix it.

hey i got an appt w/ the shop monday they were really buisy until then.
actually the problem i'm talkin about is that it still performs like an std. sorry i forgot to mention it i have not had enough sleep i actually found out that the noise is shot bearings on my ac compressor what i'm hearing is metal against metal @ high speed. should a known about that but i don't think that's the only thing draining my horse power. so i'm still asking around. lemme know if you get sick of it.

metal against metal? you prolly have no damn oil in the engine, but like setanta said, take it back to the hicks who swapped your motor, they damn well better fix plus whatever damage it cuased to your motor not running right.

hey i'm positive the noise is the ac compresser it stoppps and starts up again in conjunction w/ the noise it was an anchient compressor. i'm just wondering if somethin else is wrong.

take the belt for the ac compressor off and see if you still have the same problems(im sure you will) the ac comp should not cause the symptoms your describing, even still take it back to the installer and say the motor doesnt run right, they should fix it for you since they did the work.

i'm taking it back monday but i'm gonna have to pay cause i got a discount on my instilation. but on a plus side i'll prolly get a discount on the work they do!!
:banghead: i shouldn't have bought a project car w/ this little budget

so you got a discount on the swap, doesnt mean they should discount on the quality of the work, you payed to have a motor installed and running, and know you got a piss-poor performer.
i wouldnt give em another dime.

i always get a discount at that shop i spent enough there i've been going there for over a year and if something is simple they will not do it and tell me to get my ass home and whip out my tools i think it was an existing problem that was there before the swap but if they fucked up they aren't gonna charge me
