what kind of prep work is needed so that the area you end up cutting doesnt start to rust in the future?

lol anyways you can get the generic apc ones at pepboys for around $9 - $15 I know everyone here hates apc, but their sidemarkers are decent and dont leak ... anyways then I like to install em where the piece of rubber trim goes cause if you mess up cutting the fender you can always put the trim back on and nobody will notice. Anyways, cut the hole smaller than you think you need, then make minor tweaks as you put it in ... remember you can always make the hole bigger and not smaller so its better to cut it to small.

I reccomend using a dremel tool for doing the cutting.

As for wiring em, splice into the positive and negative wires on your corner lense, off the bulb that would normally go in the orange part if you didnt have clear corners.

Good luck.

And damn ami's car used to be clean as FAWK! I didnt recognise it till ali said whose it was.

Doing side markers is easy.

Side markers were actually pretty easy to put in. What I did was make a template using copper-clad fiberglass milled with a CNC router, although cardboard would do just fine... I used the template by lining it up with the leading edge of the door, and the top edge of the rubber side molding on the fender... I put regular masking tape over the area that I planned to cut, then traced the outline of the cutout area onto the masking tape. Then, I used my dremel tool with a cutting disc to cut the hole into the fender. Make sure to cut smaller than the outline, and if the hole ends up being too small, you can always grind it out a bit (using the cutting disc also). But if you make the hole too big, you're screwed. Just keep test-fitting the side markers and making small adjustments to the hole. Once the holes are cut to the right size, remove the masking tape, grind the edges of the holes just to get rid of any sharp edges and that's it. I wired mine up to the corner lenses...

Here's a picture of the template that I used... The red arrow is the corner that I used to line it up with the rubber strip and the door edge. Anyways, using the template this way will ensure that you cut the holes in the same place on both sides of the car.
