Help! Cheaper Cold air intake?

Dizzydy

Hey everyone, real newbie here. I'm trying to get cold air intake for my ride and I found these 'Zero 1 Racing' ones on a website for about $80. Money is a concern at this time for me, so should I get these and put them on or should i fork out the extra $ and get a better brand like AEM or Injen?? Please advise...

Honestly...
A cold air intake is one of the last things I would concern myself with... Everyone wants to put a "cold air intake" on their car.. Cuz its the only thing EVERYONE knows about.. To be honest with you.. cold air intakes are overpriced, and dont really give you that much of an increase in hp's. I would definately pull the resonator box off.. and let your car breath in fresh air.. With the resonator box.. Your engine is pulling in stagnant air that has been baking in the black plastic box. Dont get me wrong.. I would eventually put a cold air intake.. But.. Dont worry about it yet.. there are many other mods you can do to your car, that effect horsepower alot more dramatically..

Goto http://www.ebay.com/ and get one for $30-40 shipped

:iagree:

I got mine for $50 from ebay. It's the kind with the filter sitting in the fender. Personally, I think that it's better than the short type.

Good luck!

Hey, i'm a newbie too, so what are some of the other mods that can be done that will improve HP (I have a 95 civic LX)?

i wouldnt modify a LX, do a swap sparq is right... i got an HX im hoping to swap this upcoming spring,,,

esp
06-25-2003, 03:13 PM
soory to say but sparq is right, there is no real reason to mod the motor you got, if you are goin for speed and proformance, then get a good motor first, because down the road you are goin to realize all the money you are wasting right now, on LX parts are not going to work on a new motor. so if you are ever ever going to even consider a swap in the future then get one first and dont waste money on LX "performance" parts.

end rant

I didnt question his knowledge.. and opinion... But the guy DID ask "what can I do to my LX" therefore.. he doesnt know much... Which means the attitude and bullshit was unnessecary.

Anyhoo.. Hey man (Guy with LX)
You would have to pretty much upgrade everything but the block to make your shit run with an advantage to other cars... A swap is a must if you desire performance.. But.. isnt that the case in virutally all civics? Damn.. Theres always the B18C5(Integra GSR-R), H22A(Prelude Vtec), and D16A(Civic Si) as popular choices... But.. no one considers the good ole spoon swap(expensivo).. My friend victor has a '96 Del Sol with a spoon.. redlines at 16,000RPM ... It sounds like a Jet engine starting up when he hits about 8000RPM.. Its retarded.

If you notice... I said GSR-R. The GSR-R is the american Type R... If you look up the specs for it.. You'll be delighted... By the way.. "Indecent doesnt know what hes blabbing about" .. hmm.. Seems jay overlooked that "personal attck" before adding his thoughts to this thread.

"Your a fucking homo" != "indecent doesnt know what hes blabbing on about."

Challenging your argument is not automatically a personal attack.

Please show me any Honda document that calls the ITR an Integra GSR-R.

honestly dude i am with jay on this one, in my time i have never heard the itr called a gsr-r, so yep show us some documentation to prove your statement, also any proof that the spoon motor can go to 16k would be nice also.

The JDM 92-93 GSR's are known as Xsi's.. The Xsi is the B18C5... The Xsi is also known as the GSR-R... This is why I call the B18C5 the GSR-R...

Spoon subject:
Spoon designs engines specifically for certain applications.. Mostly for racing teams.. It depends on what type of spoon engine you Have seen... My friend Victor with the Neon Green Del Sol got his out of a 92 HB of a friend of his dads... So.. I dont know where it came from.. Anyhoo... When he dynod his car.. the electronic tac read close to 16k... so.. If you dont believe me or not.. I dont care...

Integras

GSR: B18C1 (170/7600)
GSR-R: B18C2 (170/7600)
SiR-G: B18C (180/7600)
Type-R 96/US: B18C (200/8100)

The only difference between the GSR and GSR-R .. is that the GSR-R has the compression ratio of 11:1:1.. the same as the Type-R.

Im a homo? No clearly im smarter then you. Your stock LX puts out a big whopping 102hp and 98ft-lbs... I dont care if you take every bolt on in the world and add it to your car.. guess what? You are still going to be slower then balls.

A swap will instantly give you more power and a better starting point for bolt ons... they will actually ADD HP instead of take it away. Maybe you should smarten up and think before you speak out your ass.

Yes, i already knew that an LX engine is prob the shittiest of all of them, but thats what ive got. plus, i dont want to make a car that will really race, i just wanna do a few things to it to make driving out in the country where i work a little faster, and improve my car a little. i dont really give a shit about being faster than other people, bc thats really not a big deal to me. i just wanna be able to go a little faster, so what would be some reccomended, fairly inexpensive things that i could to improve the torque and hp of my car (preferrably somethin that i could do myself wo a lot of trouble, im fuckin poor)?

Oh yea, fuck you whoever was sayin that im a complete dumbass for havin the car that i do. im not really into racing or shit like that, so fuck off.
