Why does GM have the right to tell me how fast to drive my car? Anyway, all I want to do is remove the speed limiter, don't want to decrease the fuel economy. I am taking this car over seas and I would like to be able to keep up with the locals(if possible). I have seen progaming devices for several hundred dollars. Looking for a cheaper way out. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Edward

I've seen things on tv car shows for $50 or less (sorry don't remember the names but if you look online you probably find them). Or you could check ebay or take it to a shop they might have the device and will do it for a charge. Or find someone that works at gm and ask them to get one you could borrow, my uncle borrowed the device from his job once to fix my car and he is in sales so anyone could get it.
And I'm pretty sure the government makes gm program the car with the governer thats why they called them that. Some free country won't even let you do over 104mph so what if theres no place in the states thats the speed limit. LOL Jk theres reasons for it.

From my understanding , they add the speed limiter to match what the OE tires are rated at. That way you don't exceed the limits of the tires.
