03 WIndstar 165K, I am looking at the vehicle to purchase, will not start, I can get it for $600). The theft light is flashing. How can I reset theft system to get it started??? Can I unhook the battery cable to reset???
The battery was low of charge from sittting for last 2 weeks to a month and it has been cold.
It does show codes p0401, 0171, 0174, 0301, 0302pd, 0303.
thanks

Low voltage on battery usually trigger the theft light to turn on. A new battery will cure the theft light.:loser:

Have hooked up a slow charger for overnight and will see what happens.
Hopefully that willl cure the starting problem if not will try a different key and battery.

After the battery was charged all night the vehicle did start without any anti theft light blinking.

Great!
May be now is the time to do the P0171 & 0174 TSB. That may clear your misfire problem. :loser:
