Windstar 2002 Minivan - Lifts question

The upper left lift hardware (some people call it stud ball) snapped and fell. Had to remove the lift so the the gate could close. A friend advised to replace both lifts as they are pretty tired (they look like shock absorbers and they provide cushioning support to the van's rear gate when opening and closing) He also advised to install two new stud ball pieces (they look like a small bolt with a perfectly rounded 10 mm head) My question: how do I remove the remaining stud ball? Does it get unscrewed? I plan on supporting the open gate on a ladder as it is very heavy and replacing both lifts and the stud balls that the lifts are hooked on.
Any help wil be greatly appreciated.

For what it's worth.....I looked on AlldataDIY and Rockauto and did not find anything about the "ball stud. I found information about the lift cylinders, but not the mounts.

Thanks, Wiswind, for your time and effort.
Apparently you haven't followed a similar thread that I posted along with this one. I made the mistake of posting twice the same message and then I tried desperately to delete one of the two. Editing it didn't help as there was no delete option. I apologize. I am new here. Anyway, if you check the other thread you will see my exchanges with a nice fellow who signs as 2Ounce who tried to help me.
To summarize: a friend who is vacationing in California found the stud that I need and she will be bringing it to me. The total cost was under three dollars. Compare that with the $13.00 to $16.00 that some dealers wanted. I will post here again to report how I made out.
Thanks again.
