I just wanted to clean the posts on my 2009 Impala, i replaced the neg. one just fine but when I got to the pos. post it had a 2 part piece that is supposed to tighten the cable around the post. It is slanted so when it is tightened the bottom part slides out.

Big wedge goes on the bottom with the opening on the bottom facing away from the cable. The bolt goes up from the bottom, through the hole in the protruding piece, then the small wedge fits on top, then the nut.
