I am having a problem recently with my keyless entry system on my Windstar 2001.I am exhibiting INTERMITTENT OPERATION OF THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM (KEY FOB).I replaced the batteries on the kefobs but still have the problem. When I get near the van then it sometimes activates.I found the module and when you place the remote controls near then it works.Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Where is the keyless module located? I have 2 Windstars and want to move the module from the older one to the newer one before selling the older one. Has anyone done this or at least know where to find the module?

Thanks

Was anything ever resoloved on this issue. I'm currently having the same problem with a 2001 Windstar LX. The keyless entry does not seem to want to work, unless I open the door with the key first. Should I post a new thread??

Thx,
PigBoT

hey there. we have recently purchased a 2001 windstar, and i cannot get the remote to work either. the battery was tested and is good. i phoned ford and of course all i got was to bring it in. maybe i can locate the module and make sure all is well there. can anyone tell me where it is located. thanks.

I believe the modual is usually located in the driver's door panel. But I'm not 100% on that. I would open it up and take a look at it, but I don't think there would be any way of visually determining whether or not it was faulty. Too many people are having the same problem, Ford must know what is wrong here. Anyone else have some feedback regarding this?? Thx!

I found this thread by searching the forums. Does anyone know anything about the intermittent operation of the remote? Every once in a while my remote won't work, then if I use the key to unlock the door and then open the door, the remote works with no problems. I'm wondering if there is some "feature" built in where if you lock the van using the door button and one door is open when you lock it and you stay out of the van for an hour the remote is deactivated. Anyone have any ideas??

My remotes do the same thing every once in while. If I use the key or the keypad on the drivers door and then use the FOB, everything works great. Just a ghost in the machine...
