I know this has been asked and answered somewhere as i have been reading about this online but i noticed that the switch under the master cylinder is damp and i need to i guess replace it? my question is does anyone know the part number for it and when i replace it do i need to bleed the brakes after as i hear it leaks brake fluid when you take it out and replace it with the new one. I just can't find it anywhere in my haynes manual i saw a picture of it but it didn't mention anything on how to replace it and i don't know if i have the right part number for it.
I haven't experianced any of the issues that have been talked about except for the cruise control acting up on occasion it won't engage but mostly it works just fine
I have a 2001 windstar SE 3.8L

the part numbers i found are:
XW7Z-9F924-BA
SW6351
also when i was under the van i noticed a box under the driver's sliding door that had 2 hoses coming out of it that says ASSY: VP1F2U-9E852-AK. does anyone know what this is for? the hose looks like it has quick connects on it. Is this for rear heat as i don't have any controls for rear heat....

this is a big deal since there is a connection to car fires from this. i would think your under a recall for it and the fused pigtail that is installed to prevent future fire potential.
back when i did mine i had the cap off the MC; bad idea- it just increases the flow as it exits. leave the cap on, and i bet you won't have much drip out. i'd also recommend filling the hole in the new switch with brake fluid prior to you installing, just to make sure their isn't any trapped air getting into the system. you won't understand until you have the new switch in hand and are preparing installation.
good luck. and get the part replaced quick.

I was at The STEALERSHIP yesterday and apparently there are no recalls for my van and when i said i found out about these recalls on the net they just said that you can find anything on the net but recalls are VIN based and when they ran my VIN nothing came up...... i went to transport canada's website and they have a listing for some recalls on the windstar line. so my question is WHO do you believe FORD STEALERSHIP or TRANSPORT CANADA or the NSHTA website? i am guessing if it causes a fire i will wind up dealing with the insurance company but I WILL have a LAWYER look into who is legally responsible for this:banghead:

if your van falls between those dates given, then you have 2 choices. 1) goto another dealership or 2) return to the one that told you "no you have no recall on the SCDS" and either talk to the owner or call ford directly while there and have them hash it out.
you'll need something in writing before going to a lawyer, and even then what will be your damages.
good luck.

well upon reading the pdf file it seems that ford will only pay for reimbursement up to december 2009 this is now 2013 and my van does fit into the date range but for the cost of the switch i think i will just buy a new switch and be done with it that way i don't need to deal with a bunch of idiots again :sarcasmsign:..... oh well it will be fixed tomorrow and i will do it myself

After i called ford today they told me a recall was done and they replaced the harness that goes from the switch to the factory harness and when i told them that the switch seemed to look as if it is leaking fluid they told me that it is a possibility that it is the switch and that if the dealership deems it a factory flaw or a defect in workmanship they may be able to compensate me for the cost but i have to pay for the diagnosis. I would replace it but in canada when i got the price for the switch it was $100.00 and is the states it is nowhere near there price in canada. Maybe it's time to move to a place that doesn't screw us for parts

Order from rock auto (select the motorcraft one.). Disregard that illuminated entry system bit in the description. It's the right part for sure.

still waiting on the switch but does anyone know if that might be why my remote start doesn't work i had the tech look at it and reprogram the remote got it to lock/unlock fine but would only start the van once then the second time he tried to start it remotely after pressing the brake it just flashed the theft light and wouldn't start.....:banghead:
