saturn wont start

got this 96 sl as a hand me down, started fine at first but then i removed all the amp and thumping base bullcrap from under the dash then it wouldnt start for nothing, so i just got a momentary push switch and went from the battery to the starter selenoid, starts fine every time now, is that gonna mess other stuff up?
