Hey guys,
Having a issue with my 00 ford windstar. I drove the van non stop for 3 years till last summer. Parked it in my slope driveway. Went out yesterday to get back on the road for summer this year. Battery was dead, so I replaced it, but it won't turn over anymore just clicks. Also if I put the van in Nuetual I can push it down the driveway? Any ideas what could of went wrong sitting for a year under a car cover?

Have you tried tapping on the starter with a hammer, starter could be frozrn from sitting.
Also check to see if you have 12 volts at the starter if you have a DMM.
Did you clean the battery cable ends when you replaced battery??
You should be able to put vehicle in neutral and get it down the driveway just be careful as you will not have easy steering or good brakes.

I haven't taped the starter I will try that. I did clean the ends of battery cables. I can switch the car in N yet with three 200 pound guys we can get it to budge!! And our driveway even has a slope!

The brakes have probably rusted in place. Won't be a problem once the engine runs ... most likely that is.

Hopefully the pistons did not rust to the block sitting for a year but possible. Can you get a socket on the crankshaft harmonic balancer bolt and try turning the engine clockwise. Being not able to move the vehicle is like 12Ounce says, the brakes are rusted. How steep of sloped driveway do you have?
