2005 Intermitant Start Problem

Mercury Sable LS / 2005 Model / VIN =1MEFM55S25A618975 / Duratech 3.0L - V-6 Engine
Car's engine will crank, but will not start or make any noticeable attempt to start. Turn the key off and crank again and then it will start. Other times the car will start right off, but the ABS Warning Light, Check Fuel Cap Warning Light, Brake System Warning Light, and the Traction Control Light come on and stay on. The Message Center remains dark and the door ajar alarm will not sound if a door is opened. I've tried a different PATs key and that was no help. I replaced the ignition switch and that was no help. Scanned with the Autel MaxiScan MS309 scanner and came up with no codes. This does not happen every time, but has become more frequent lately and is happening about 1 out of 3 times, either the crank-no fire condition or the warning lights come on and stay on with no display. Much obliged for any thoughts on this oddity. Haven't been able to scare up any like situations via the search.
