Workaround for hot/cold actuator fail

04 Impala, dual climate zone, passenger side heat actuator/control/wiring/whatever failed. Dealer price on new actuator $71.54
Useful life left of car - unknown.
Disassembled actuator, motor itself works fine.
Run wiring as shown directly to motor, two spade terminals mounted under the ash tray, an old smoke detector battery.
It could be finessed more. Old 9v battery because you don't have the position sensor and I figure 12v applied will strip the gears. Flip polarity to reverse where the actuator is. Beats working the door manually.
Cheap and effective.

why would you measure the voltage of a smoke detector 9volt battery ? its 9 volts DC. when it beeps you replace it.
smoke detectors do not have stepper motors . these door dampers from GM do.
the 9volt battery with its limited power will just drop down when you draw power to get the motor to more so the battery will suffer not the motor.
I would just replace the component.

I was referring to the voltage under load of an old 9v battery in the application presented, considering the previous post about the motor being rated at 5v.
