Need a few reference pics?

http://robotpig.net/_images/posts/mat_2.jpg (http://www.mat.fi/n_index.php?nav=gallery_view&gallery=projecttoyotacelicaturbotc35&g=13)

This car is back to Dubai with its original owner. First time I saw this car when it was just fresh out from a TTE rebuild/restore job and sold to current (then owner) getting ready for its first rally in Middle East, 1987. 22 years later I saw it in display at the start of Dubai International Rally.. again fully restored... the least I can say it looked liked as if I am in 1987... but to give credit to MAT: the car looked even better than 1987.

Well done choice as a modeling project. Will follow your progress.

I have nearly finished the parts of the engine compartment ..
missing some detail that I put at the end
I finished the suspension system
for the exhaust system I had two options .. safari and Portugal
I had to build everything because I have not found anything to be able to adapt

Luca, is that the turbo below the exhaust manifold? What is the component that is coming off the exhaust manifold sitting in the inner wing?

It's impressive stuff, you are doing a wonderful job.

Keep it coming! What about the wheels? They are multi spoke and different widths front & rear.

Also known as wastegate valve.

Known for those who precisely know what we're talking about, I doubt someone will understand anything by only answering "wastegate valve" if he doesn't already know there is such thing on a turbo (I mean only needing to identify the part in the model, what perhaps was the case for Kaj45rpm) :dunno:
(uhh... and what is wastegate...?)
"Pressure relief valve" is probably less technical but clearer imo for those not familiar to rally or engine terms :naughty: :grinyes:

day updates .... sorry for the picture .. changing machine line ....:uhoh:
begin with circles .. for asphalt version .. I did more options that can be combined with each other ..
There will be two versions of the front shock absorbers according to the version chosen ...
the tires for the version safari are not those defiitive ...
must be 0.7mm larger in diameter ..
I kept the ride height of the real car for the two versions
the version asphalt was low as the modern cars

I think the particular safari part over hood can be handles; in African rallies codrivers sometimes hangs at the rear to add weight on rear axle to find back grip in mud...

Looking very good Luca. Can I have 1 of each version please!!!

I'm thinking that the 'towel rail' in the rear of the Safari version is an HF antenna so that they could communicate with the team helicopter, but this is only a guess. It would be difficult to see in a photograph. Maybe the guys at MAT would be able to tell you.

What's the next stage of the build to getting a kit put together? This is exciting times for 1/24 rally car fans.

The HF antenna is probably the right possibility, usually handles are made of soft material and/or are placed at the edge of the boot.
Moreover Gr.B cars had enough power not to depend on such tip to find grip in mud (was more common in the 70's)
I thought to it as rear bar includes the footrest.
The only thing I'm wondering is why this antenna was only used in safari and not in other rallies, as Helicopters were used almost everywhere.
Or maybe it's just not enough visible on references pics and vids... :dunno:

Probably the distances covered in Africa vs. the European rallies. Keep in mind whilst during this era, relay towers were common in Europe and many other countries, Africa was still far behind on this technology. The direct result was teams needing to use more powerful radio and antenna systems to communicate.

Good evening guys
first of all thanks to everyone for the compliments .....
here's a photo of the particular..... is the same as on the car that won the 85 safari ... but my picture in a magazine and I can not show them to you ...
I do not seem an antenna ...... maybe it's a teaser for something .....
however, the particular ... I thought I put two options ...
put it printed as a prototype in the picture, but it is a little large in diameter (0.7mm), otherwise there is no problem to print
and put the 5 rings in PE ... where to insert a small wire ..
What do you think?

Hi, veeery good job so far!

I would vote for the scond option either.

Talking about the details, what about the Pirelli pattern of the tires? Will you make your own tires or will use them from another kit?

Luca, your skill/ability with styrene and raw materials is simply impressive... Thanks for the time you took for taking so self-explanatory photos and sharing with us. All this progress is just amazing.

Silently admiring: Robi

too nice guys ..... I love racing cars .. and the model .... I try to combine those two things with beautiful models :)
this is my first wip I can post ....
I realize models for others .. and I never can publish images ...
gives me great pleasure to share with you this job

for Pasio83
I'll use a tread on the tires michelin which is very similar in design but I'm building the rest of the rubber, unfortunately I have not found anything approaching the real tire sizes

for Robi j
