Hi to all,

Is there a big difference between year 2000 Windstar 3.0 and 3.8 in petrol consumption? I'm running 96 Windstar 3.0 now with 109kW, but I might buy another one which is year 2000 with 3.8 engine. Petrol is expensive in Europe :-)

I do not know that the difference is huge.....the 3.0L motor is more reliable, and I would personally choose it over the 3.8L.....as the 3.8L has more things that go wrong with it that....when they fail will increase the fuel consumption as well as drive you crazy.
It is not that the basic motor is terrible, but the 3.8L had more issues with the intake manifold, the IMRC, and cooling system leaks (lower intake manifold and front cover gaskets).
However, the overall condition of the vehicle is what is most important.......

I feel the same as I have quite long experience with 3.0 one. That 3.8 I wanted to buy was somehow low level version, it didn't have rear ventilation nor the roof holders. I'll chose 2000 3.0 one next week to have something to play with :-)

I like windstars even not so many cars like these might be seen on our Central Europe roads. Galaxy, Sharan or Espace vans ar more common here.
