I store my 2006 PT Cruiser Convertible Touring for the 6 months of winter every year in a steel "lean to" with a custom car cover. The battery is disconnected and there have been no problems to date except last fall the A/C stopped giving cold air in summer months. I know if driven normally you are supposed to work the A/C in winter months occasionally to keep the system operating properly. The compressor cuts in for 15-30 seconds then cuts out, in and out, in and out etc. but no cold air is generated. Is just a "recharge" called for or have I toasted something in the compressor.
Has anyone experienced this problem?
Thanks all.

My first thought is to check refrigerant.

Thanks, JDL.
I kinda figured that but the dealer here in Airdrie, Alberta wants $160 to first purge and fill with refridgerant and another $100 to check the system out! I'll pick up a recharge kit from our "(in-) famous" Canadian Tire here and do it myself. I have acess to a shop to do all this. Have a great Halloween!
