Entered my vin number on the Ford site yesterday and it yielded unexpected results. Turns out my Winnie is not an LX but an SE. That explains at long last why I was never able to open the rear hatch from the outside with my key: it is not the original hatch. Previous owner must've damaged the original and replaced it with one of the same color from an LX but did not bother to transfer the lock from the damaged hatch. Because it says LX on the hatch I thought it was an LX.

Also explains the power leather seats, premium audio, flashy overhead console, etc. Cool, instant upgrade :biggrin:
