It's hard to "know" yourself. I have some issues about this myself.

I'm 23 and married, almost done with an accounting degree, and I have no idea what I want to do for a career, except that I don't want an accounting job. (I hate accounting :mad: ) I mean, I know things that I like, and skills I can use... I just don't know what to do. :confused:

Not nessacrly, I know people who didnt find themselves till quite late in life, theres nothing wrong with that.
I didnt get any real self confidence till i was in my early teens. I entered a school speach contest and one, then did really well playing the villian in a school play.
Think of it like this. We all have a degree of self confidence inside our selves, we just need to find the right activity to bring it out, or to be in a situation were we realise it, and so act on it.

Something as simple as saying to your self I believe I can do it might be enough. Or you might have to acomplish a goal you were certian of failing.

1st year at uni is a great time to start to develop yourself. Your placed back on neutral territory. No body knows whats going on, and more importantly few poeple know each other, so know one knows about your past.
You can make a complete dick of your self and no one will care.
Good things to do are: Goto Tutorials, you actualy get to meet the people in your papers this way, and since the're doing the same papers, thier most likly to have similar views on things.
Dont be affraid to ask questions in class, and if your sitting next to someone before a lecture starts, or during a break dont be afraid to just turn around and say something, start with the weather, or ask how thier weekend was, or even better make a comment on the paper, that way you have a common intrest to start disccusing.

TALK TO MEMBERS OF BOTH SEXS!!!!!! no one will think your gay!

Get hold a of listing of all the clubs on Campus, go through it and see what you might like. Go along to one or two meetings and see what you think?
If your a real car nut I recomend joinging a real car club. Not a group of boyracers who goto the drags on a friday night, but a club full of genuine enthuisats who have organised events and a regular club night.
There are some snobby clubs out there, but most are very open and friendly and happy to have any new members. you dont even have to own a car, just be interested in them.

Try saying things to total strangers. people that you will never ever see again. Like the person sitting beside you on the bus. Just say something non offensive and simple. It dosnt have to be smart or whitty, even a simple hello will do.

Thanks for the sympathy over the last girl - but it was really no big deal :). I had psyched myself up over the last few weeks to ask her out, and since it was her last day - I didn't care. I pretty much asked her on my way out anyways :).

Well, i've finally sorta kinda not really gotten over Nina (im sure some of you remeber...) becaaaause, i've just asked what many consider the "hottest" girl in my school, and the girl i've had a crush on, to my Military banquet thingie, all formal, and she said Yes!! :D She's gorgeous, and hopefully she'll think the same thing when she see's me in full Air Force Mess Dress, officer style. I'll be one handsome :devil:

Even a little self confidence can make a huge differnce, it affect how other percieve you.
You can of course take it to far, and end up just comeing accross like a complete arrogant prick, some girls like this, but most don't, and they can tell very quickly.

I see the flag... but for some reason i didn't think he lived in Germany

Plus nothin's filled in, in the Location field.... and not everybody has their actual location as their flag, like DVS has dominican republic, I have U.S. because i've lived most of my life in the states.
