Hi guys,
I want to convert this 935:
http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSvGZHvVdXi9KZhE_r1GcLW5G4whfeJJ 8TwjWBv3cxx9irAdPuFlQ22jLliww

into this version:

http://www.f1specialties.com/main/images/12023.jpg
http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQBoBDosN5RmYMebTVgz7kRAWMXl6Sds 65-Q9e3M1SfIyFVpELlAtehL6b3

..of course in 1/24.
The main issue will be rebuild all the tale, make front wheelarch wider and in correct shape and rebuild decals.I will use 1/12 kit, as master for the smaller one.
I also prefer to finish it in a different livery, even if the images I've found around the net are only renderings of the Martini car, just painted different:
http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTePrMFwJflQkLoJlx0C8CL1Exfr8Qfy uQyGXmg9IOawp6_ERJWOYCYQJwC

..even if I found a pic oline where it seems to be existed for real.if so please tell me and I will close the model in the (nicer imho) Jag livery:
http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR3aZZK5GSb-CkCdrcozAKpRESdiG7gDakg8TZ2ZQSU30MHR22IFE2o36ll0A

It should be the 1977-Bergisher Lowe Zolder winner driven by Manfred Schurti.
If someone has more pics of this car please help me.I like it more than ordinary martini.

I'll be watching how you proceed wit this. I wish that Tamiya would shrink down their 1/12 935, 934 and 910 kits to 1/24!

Yes, it is really a shame they did not. There is an impressive difference in quality and details between 24 and 12 model. The smaller is basically a toy, showing all its 30 yrs moulding.

I was ALSO looking if it was possible to finish the model in another livery.I like Martini, but is a too famous car.
Looking around I've found a special box done in limited edition by Exoto featuring both 934 and 935

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4135/5416016513_c9fecdd2e2.jpg

http://exotomodels.com/racing-legend/1976-exoto-porsche-934-rsr935-turbo-jagermeister-gift-set-118/

they say:
This is a VERY RARE Exoto 1/18 Jagermeister 1976 Porsche 934 RSR & 1977 Porsche 935 Turbo 2-Car Gift Set!

It contains the cars that Max Moritz ran in 1976 and 1977. The Porsche 934 RSR was run at the 1976 Nurburgring 1000KM, and the 935 Turbo won the 1977 Norisring trophy.

And it is Priced for 2500 dollars.LOL

I could be mistaken ,but suspect this expensive twin package item have a mistake in the 935 front lights, cause according to all all infos I have It was a car with single front light (and not double as Ickx le mans car).
http://ll.speedhunters.com/u/f/eagames/NFS/speedhunters.com/Images/AndyBlackmore/GALLERY/por_liv/liveries_jeag.jpg
So nice pic taken at the Ring,I love it.

Anyway before decide the livery I start ask here(can be as for that 996 gt1 evo testcar I didnt know the carbon fiber livery..so lets wait someone more informed than me)

And in italian forum a friend linked me this site with almost all racing 935s.There is no pic of double front light jagermeister:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/144507-more-935-favorite-photos.html

..for now I start scan the decal sheet from the bigger sister.

I scaled down the draw on tamiya istructions to make the dime for the side fenders.
So now in my list of the things to do I wrote:
-rebuild secondary grill over main rear wing
-create double lights
-rebuild exhaust area
-rebuild all the lower back are of the rear wing (where there are still the 4 holes)
-rebuild front lip
-detail the 2 lateral Nacas
-side radiators
-water lines on the roof
-connection btw side air vent and lower door

...thats all for now... time for a cold beer. Carlsberg?

Nice project lovegt40, I'll follow this WIP closely because I want to build a 935 out of an early 935. You've made some great progress here. After my 917 I'm going to build the first 935 from the Ardvark transkit. Good luck with this one Lovegt40.

Hello,

I'm following this one.
One of the greatest Porsches of all.
I've finished 3 of these in 1/24, all started from the Tamiya 935.
( Georg Loos, Jägermiester and the white Dick Barbour )

At the moment I'm working on the 1/24 Peter Gregg Brumos 935 version.

Very nice progress you make.
Are you going to do the Martini livery?

thank u for the encouragement guys ;) It helps, even more when skilled modellers follows me.

@Eric your 917 is a masterpiece.is the most important porsche of the past.too nice build btw.

@beaver... do it.It is easyer than what I thought. The trick is only to scale down a good draw and work with 1mm thick plasticard.

@joka : yes, studying pics I see now I can only close it as Martini car.Jagermeister car had ONLY single light in front. All the others are k2...k3..k4..so later models.
I am already reducing in scale the tamiya 1/12 decal sheet (thanks to my great friend Andrea, my graphic)
If u have any link of your models joka plz pass me theme.I would love to look theme and study pics.

njia...think will remain in the classical martini livery.already scanned the 1/12 sheets, so soon will print all in alps.
The tamiya in 24 scale has a lot of mistakes I see, also rear wing is different than 1/12 model. It is a real old model.

lovegt40
12-22-2011, 08:05 AM
here we go with the 935.
The rear main wing was retouched moving the secondary intercooler grille .In the bigger model is in a different position and with a different(smaller) shape.I've prepared also the right metal net for the rear naca duct.
The 70s' toysh style wheels have been retouched first of all keeping away the heavy factory chrome paint, then drilling the inner part from the rim back to reach the holes of the famous and typical BBS rims. The paint is alclad2.I've added the tire valve and dunlop decals.Inner rim color is tamiya titanium gold, with a final wash of H95 smoke by Gunze.

little progress on the porsche.:naughty:
I rebuild with milliput the lower part of the rear bumper, under the exhaust.the 3 air vents near are open now, and I also found some good tubes for the terminal.
Even with milliput i reshaped the lower edge of the side radiators, and took the correct measures for the PE grill to place inside.
The last improve was to reduce a little the front air intake.Body is ready for the first coat of white...I suppose :naughty:

Great job you're doing. The rearside looks spot on. You've mentioned to downside the decals from the 1/12 kit. Isn't it better to use the 1/20 scale Tamiya kit?? Anyway keep it up because I'm watching and learning.

The model was before primered with tamiya white primer and then with gunze off white (used as base, being very light grey) and in a second time with pure white.
I let it dry for a long time.in the past I had some problems with multy layers of gunze colors (as if the last coat wakes up whats under..) so wanted to keep all clean and dry. With actual temperature everything is surely dry.I had no needing to clearcote white at this point, cause the apply of decals is the challenge of this model.
I down scaled the 1:12 tamiya decal sheet redrawing all, but I am not so sure my handworks come precise...as in tamiya big scale model.

eheh, thank u Joka.
I was so stupid to miss scale design model some yrs ago. Now I regret it.It is a great model, complete and with PE.A must to have.

This porsche in this Le Mans version becomes so much more nicer and aggressive than ordinary 1/24 tamiya box of the first version. Now I placed the front lights, and she took the typical bad eye look of the 2 lights spoiler cars. Also I shined the body and completed all the decalwork. Is pure pleasure to see.

Found also a bodyslot from kyosho in ebay.Dunno really the quality of it.usually Kyosho is good:

Hello,

watch out with that KYOSHO body, it's really nice, but it's scale 1:27.52!!!!!

When I first saw it I bought it immediately, but when I looked closer at the body I saw the scale 1:27.52. The model is really smaller next to a 1:24 model.

It should be to easy to find the greatest porsche ever in 1:24.

I have the finsihed body version, it's quality is very nice, but unusable for me, so if someone is interested, let me know.

yes, read it.and is a shame cause cound be a perfect way to make this conversion little more easy than what is now.Dunno really the reason for 1/28 scale.at least 32 or american scales, but 28???? MAH.

The 935 is a porno-porsche.The nicest 911 ever imho.
Look at this video with fellow driving at the Ring with Nigel Mansell helmet :D. Too cool:

so, here trying to understand the very first versions of this car. before this model I didnt know so much, just remember it was reproduced allover in the past. unfortunately, more I go on with my model, more I recognize, we really miss the nicer...in our scale (24th)

from the previous evolution file posted
http://robdebie.home.xs4all.nl/models/911-935.htm#935-76

I think the evolution of the first 935 should be this one:
1st car, high lights, round ass and standard front bumper without any light

http://multiply.com/mu/alsoldatino/image/1:soldatino/photos/179/600x600/92/1.jpg?et=89jycVy2ZmRsXRpbb62iGQ&nmid=506186876

http://multiply.com/mu/alsoldatino/image/1:soldatino/photos/179/500x500/93/1a.jpg?et=oNtP3k9pt1mibH21TGgPrg&nmid=506186876

then they made the second version, still high lights and front standard bumper w/o lights, BUT square ass:

http://multiply.com/mu/alsoldatino/image/1:soldatino/photos/179/500x500/94/2.jpg?et=VIgW1hUtutUnRsGJ4XcL%2CA&nmid=506186876

but then they made also the version with squared ass and lower/different single light nose section. This is the model done by tamiya in 24th scale. It is also the one with less pictures I've forund around. Dunno if this come before or after the previos car posted:

http://multiply.com/mu/alsoldatino/image/1:soldatino/photos/179/500x500/95/3.jpg?et=65Fj2Mr%2BidI9Bsg1fZHgIw&nmid=506186876

then I found this other version, just different cause single front light AND square ass

http://multiply.com/mu/alsoldatino/image/1:soldatino/photos/179/600x600/97/3b.jpg?et=fUs1NTcIxvnjKB5RLryLuA&nmid=506186876

and then the le mans winner, done by tamiya in 12 and 20th..

http://multiply.com/mu/alsoldatino/image/1:soldatino/photos/179/600x600/98/4.jpg?et=tzk4K2%2Bk731HU4ankRdlrw&nmid=506186876

..that becomes an evolution into the following K's car serie..

http://multiply.com/mu/alsoldatino/image/1:soldatino/photos/179/500x500/99/4a.jpg?et=2Ho72MH1RB0dzJAC%2CqukjQ&nmid=506186876

to finish with the silohuette car used in late 70s.

http://multiply.com/mu/alsoldatino/image/1:soldatino/photos/179/600x600/101/5.jpg?et=pmX71iRXONFVPN%2BLpRiqng&nmid=506186876

Probably this pic explains all. Being a racer all front nose section was just fiberglass and so quite easy to change with lookalike section from 934.

http://multiply.com/mu/alsoldatino/image/1:soldatino/photos/179/500x500/102/54128772.RLG18102-Team.jpg?et=Y3tNdx7FcxzqRRLURofPTA&nmid=506186876

The rear part indeed was more difficult to change, being mostly a big rework (think also here fiberglass) starting from lower rear pillar and taking all the back of this sexy porsche

Unfortunately the worst part of this old model is the interior, that is definitely lacking of details. The biggest missing is the complete rollcage. they only made part of the rear tubes, so this will be the first part to fix.
Didnt become frak of all details in it, cause is curbside models and so just worked a little with drybrush painting to increase the (few) volume details.
PE gear cranes coming from spare parts.the instruments are coming from spare decals too.
Chipping in silver done with oil paint.

in the meanwhile I shined the body.It is my idea nowadays it is much more better work on this progress only with mesh/compound instead of searching the perfect candy glossy finish with 2k gloss.I tried it several times, but getting the best results too often means cover many detail of the model, obtaing mostly the sucky candy effect.
Feel much more better working on the longer process of painting/sanding/compound done several times (at least 5 passages), cause all the work remains much more clean and not heavy.
This is just my opinion, of course.

http://multiply.com/mu/alsoldatino/image/1:soldatino/photos/179/600x600/111/SDC19336.JPG?et=MFGJdeTBK3eRz1o7UA630A&nmid=506186876

then was time to fix the rypical 911 rear lights

http://multiply.com/mu/alsoldatino/image/1:soldatino/photos/179/600x600/110/SDC19335.JPG?et=Eq2UDxY%2BPDxKvCYFxxCV%2Bg&nmid=506186876

and then prepared the bonnet hooks from crazy modeller PE parts

http://multiply.com/mu/alsoldatino/image/1:soldatino/photos/179/600x600/113/SDC19339.JPG?et=FX3UXViWQf%2BFkq1xA1hvCw&nmid=506186876

as well as the single wiper coming from Modeller's PE parts

The clear side windows are another too old point of this model. They are definitely too thick and not trasparent enough.Consider in my model they wer also already used and dusted after a building done over 25 yrs ago.The windshield was polished with toothpaste.
The side parts are coming from spare parts of a 993GT2 from tamiya, much more recent in moulding and plastic quality.I only add the 2 lines simulating the 2 parts of the driver and passenger opening windows.

http://multiply.com/mu/alsoldatino/image/1:soldatino/photos/179/600x600/116/SDC19346.JPG?et=nYNRV%2BYgy9lW8DrWLTuUsA&nmid=506186876

and finally the clear plastics over the front lights. They give the final BADBOY look to the terrific nose of this angry porsche..
