Odometer reading all dashes

I recently hit a deer with my '03 Windstar. Had the collision work done, but now my odometer is all dashes most of the time and the O/D Off light flashes. The two issues coincide and occasionally stop, but come back again within minutes. Does this sound like a speed sensor or just a poor connection?

Sounding like a speed sensor.
The O/D flashing is a sign that the PCM (computer) is sensing a problem with the transmission electronics......and a defective speed sensor will do that (I had it happen).
Unless they moved it since the older windstars.....my '96 had the Vehicle Speed Sensor mounted on the back side of the transmission case.......which is not a location that one would expect to be disrupted in an accident, short of one that would total the vehicle.
The PCM is mounted on the passenger side, into the firewall, behind the top of the passenger side strut mount.
I would expect that the wire harness would be behind the motor.........and not out in front where it would be likely disrupted.
