98 windstar 3.8 liter - IAC question

Hello,
I have a question for the Idle Air Control valve for my 98 windstar.
The idle has been a little rough after the engine warms up.
If I disconnect the connector on the IAC, the engine revs down a bit and then come to normal idle and continuous running.

When IAC is disconnected - shall the engine not stop?

How do I test my IAC on Windstar.

PLease reply.

When it comes to Windstar IAC valves, I'm a believer in cleaning them first. It's so quick and easy to do, there's little excuse to put it off. It will probably take longer to read the procedure than it will to do it:

If cleaning doesn't solve the idle problem, the valve probably needs replacing - or there's something else going on.

Disconnecting IAC valve SHOULD stall the van. If not then you must replace it.

First try cleaning it, is really easy. Just use carb cleaner first. Last time I cleaned mine I fill it up to the top with carb cleaner and leave it for 15 minutes to remove dirtyness.

Then I use WD-40 to make it move freely, just clean the excess and you are done to go.

Clear OBD codes before starting the van. Then PCM should adjust IAC valve to work with the engine.

You only need a socket 8 mm to remove it.
