I have gotten a lot of parts ofr our Saturn "S" series cars from www.rockauto.com. You put in your make, year, model, and click on the links for major sections. There are little images of most parts, which enlarge if you click on them, so you can see what the parts look like. They deliver in 3 to 5 days most always, from associate wholesalers around the country. I have rebuilt two SL2 engines with their parts, plus 4 Ford Escort engines, and a couple of clutches. I pay them via credit card.
Of course autozone and advanceauto carry many of the common 'consumeable' parts, and NAPA stores have a good reputation. For older cars, if a NAPA counterman says they dont have it, (because it didnt show up in their computer), tell him to pull up the hard copy listings to look for the part.
There are a number of other Saturn forums too. Try a google search for "Saturn SL2 forum". I know yours is a coupe, but the driveline and most parts are exactly the same for the more common SL2 sedans. Buried in the past postings will be a lot of other sources for parts that arent common. You can also learn a lot about the usual Saturn S series sedan problems; like oil consumption (feeble oil control rings), the original Engine Coolant Temperature Sensors not holding up, etc.
Im a hobbysist. We have 5 Saturn S series cars in the family, and I do all of the work they need - which isnt much. If yours has a sunroof, and if the drains havent been cleaned out, you can expect leakage making the headliner wet. It would also be unusual if the sunroof still opened. We just leave ours shut.
On my 95 SL2 one of the rear trailing arms just snapped the other day - which I only knew because it made a clanking noise when I went over bumps. The car drove okay but was squirrely when I seesawed the steering wheel back and forth. I removed it and welded it back together, but plan to replace both of the originals with new ones, and with new rubber bushings too, from www.energysuspension.com.
Folks think Saturns look in good shape - because the bodies 'dont rust out'. The fenders and door panels are all plastic, so of course they dont rust out. If you look underneath one you will find rust however, and I have replaced brake calipers and brake hoses for just that reason.
If you ever need to fix a window lift mechanism, you get to the guts of the door by removing the outer door skin. Dont waste your time taking off the interior door panel, you cant reach anything from there. The tricky part is knowing that you have to remove the outside door handles first, then undo the torx head screws holding the plastic door 'cover' onto the car.
Good Luck. You have a car that can be a lot of fun.

thanks for the advice, and yea my sunroof sounds strong and open a smidge, but then one side sticks and the thing gets cockeyed. what are some of the other forums you attend?
the only problems i have seen with my car is that the ABS light is always on and the ebrake light is always on, yet the ebrake holds strong and the abs im not sure yet if it functions. i havent registered the car yet.

I sent you a priv. msg. The sunroof sticking on one side is probably because the mechanism is broken on that side. Its possible to fix the mechanism, after you get it off of the car, and if I can recall where I saw the 'how to', I would tell you. It may have been a couple of years ago, or even 3, on this same forum. Reading the back postings would give you a lot of info about your car's issues. You can also assume the sunroof mechanism needs a good cleaning and lubing - being dismantled for the purpose. Its a hokey kind of mechanism if you ask me.
I dont know about the ABS light being on, but if the 'brake' light is also on, even with the handbrake lever fully lowered, then your brakes are telling you something isnt right. You would need to have a look at that; starting with checking the fluid level in the master cylinder, seeing that all the brake pads (and shoes if you have drums in back) are okay, that there arent signs of leakage.
Around here, in N. VA, the safety inspector would fail a car whose 'brake' light or ABS light was on. He wouldnt bother to try the brakes and see if it stopped, he would just put a 'rejection' sticker on the windshield. That gives us 2 weeks to get it fixed and return for a re-inspection, and during that two weeks, I could get a ticket for driving it - but the ticket would be voided if I got it fixed, reinspected, and took the inspection receipt to the county courthouse 'violations' window.
I know the 'brake' indicator light will come on for a couple of reasons, one of which is that one half of the 'dual' brake system is having more fluid flow or less fluid pressure than the other half.

got the pm thanks, yea im gonna check the brake fluid levels first thing tomorrow, then ill pull off the wheels and check the pad thickness, i know my old honda would trip the light if the pad was too thin. as for the sunroof, ill probably just leave it as is.
