My car won't start.

I accidentally hit the button on my car keys that makes the car horn honk last night. I don't know how long my car was honking last night but now it wont start. Th dashboard lights, a/c, radio and everything works, but the car won't start. I turn the keys and nothing happens, not even a clicking sound. I tried boosting it and recharging the batter and still nothing. I have a 2003 Alero GL. Any ideas what might have happened?

First of all - Welcome to AF!

I'm going to leave this thread here for a few days to get it some looks, but traditionally, we try to keep threads to their respective forums (no worries - you're new and the new guy can get away with such things ).

had you been noticing any problems with power before this morning? I honestly don't think it's related to your alarm as I'm sure someone would have either come and said something to you about the alarm going off all night or it would have gone off on its own as many cars come equipped with an auto-kill for alarms that activates after approximately one to two minutes of honking.

the first thing you need to look at is whether or not your security light is flashing on your dash. If it IS flashing here is what you need to do:

- Put the key in the ignition and put the car into the on position
- Leave it there for ten (10) minutes
- At this point the light should stop flashing and the car SHOULD start.

If this works, you may have a bad passlock/lock cylinder. If this doesn't work, come back and let us know and we can go from there.

I hope that helps! Let us know either way what happens.
