Resetting programs

Hi...I have a 2001 Impala...6cyl with 46,000 miles..For the most part,it's been idle for best of a year..It's been started everynow and then and a new battery was installed...I took it for a short drive today and this is my problem...When I got back the head lights were blinking on and off..Every 5 seconds a display in the dash changed from...SECURITY..SERVICE ENGINE SOON and BATTERY. The interior lights also were blinking on and off..I"d appreciate any advice on fixing this problem..Thanks...Pete
