HI
Wife's kid mover, my maintenance chore. I've done the front and rear brakes a number of times on the van. Over the past 2 months the brakes squeek, kinda like the sound a transit bus makes, not a pulse or grind, squeek. It's less when you really push on the pedal but rolling to a stop it really squeeks. The pads are at 3/4 thickness, the rotors were new when the pads were installed. Haven't checked the rears but am pretty sure it's coming from the front. Last weekend I removed and lubricated the 4 sliders on the calipers. I'm kind of wondering why this sound is here now. Pitted or scored rotors? Fyi, raybestos pads..
Brake pad wear is even, calipers were new at last pad/rotor changeover.
Ideas?

Try lubricating the tracks at the anti rattle clips, if these are completely dry, can cause the noise you´re hearing. You can also put some high temp sealant at the brake of the pads and glue them to the caliper and piston. This will reduce the amount of vibration between the components and all noises should dissapear.

so just following up here.. I pulled the calipers off last night. Everything looked fine so I scuffed the rotors up with some 120 grit emery paper, cleaned them off with brake part cleaner and reassembled. The noise is gone now. I dunno if it'll be back but that seemed to solve the problem. The surface of the rotor did seem very polished and scuffing did of course remove that shine. Hopefully the noise is gone for good!
