ZC questions

I recently bought a 90 civic SI that has a real nice body (no rust, no dents) along with a nice interior. The guy i got it from didn't know much about cars, so I got it for $700. I had to replace the clutch, and while I was screwing around under the hood, I noticed " 92 ZC " faded, but written on the valve cover. This leads me to believe that it obviously isn't the original engine, and that it could be a SOHC ZC. Does anyone know of a way to see if it really is a ZC? If it is, would it be possible to switch the head to the DOHC version while using the same block, and most of the other existing parts?

right where the block meets the tranny at the bottom left of the motor, there is an engine stamp and it will say ZC on it if it is a ZC, um the DOHC head will not fit on the SOHC motor, too different motors.

its kinda obvious if you have seen a SOHC and DOHC motor. I dont want to make it seem like an insult but its generally easy to tell. SOHC has a single cam so its a circle on the right of the block and the DOHC has two so i think it has a flat portion between the two cams.

I know what the difference between the two heads is, I have seen the two different heads before, it's just that I have never seen the blocks without the heads to know if they were different.

SOHC block will not work with a DOHC Head or vice versa because they have different setups. And if it's a zc, it will say ZC not 92 ZC on the block.

It sounds like "92 ZC" was written somewhere on the valve cover...like in junkyard pen or something...

I think I have a shot of my engine code...like the other dude said..you'll see this under the distributer, just above the tranny towards the front of the motor..mine is sitting on an engine stand, but it is right next to where the tranny connects.

Can you please add the small image code around your sig, or shorten it.

Yo bambam...all you have to do is add [ size=1 ] - without the spaces, just before the text in your sig and then [ /size ] at the end to close it...do the same with the color tag you put in there and it should work too ;)
