I am working on my Mothers 1995 Windstar 3.8L V6 and it has no or very little oil pressure. The idiot oil light is flickering and it sounds like a hydraulic lifter knocking under air plenum. There is allot of great information being posted which I will use to troubleshoot the low pressure problem. The problem I am faced with at the moment is I can't access the last upper right bolt (10mm) for removal. The bolt sits back a little behind the casting of the pump. The engine motor mount bracket is right in front of this bolt. I can see and touch the bolt just can't seem to get a tool on it (Very Limited Space).
Does the motor mount bracket need to be removed or is there a tool I should be using for access?
I drained the oil and removed the filter, then removed the belt. alternator bolting, Power Steering Pump bolting and AC Comp unit bolting. All are suspended out of the way for access to pump.
I thought when I removed the AC unit this would allow access, WRONG!
The AC unit mounts to the motor mount bracket which is attached to engine block.
Sounds like some guys have taken the pump off several times. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
If I have to remove the motor mount bracket I will, its just allot of work for one bolt!
