Grab the cv shaft and see if there is any movement, if movemnt more than likely knuckle on shaft is bad even tho the boot is ok. Check all of your suspension( tie rod ends, ball joints, etc.) You can drive it but could leave you stranded. Does it clunck or more like a clicking when turning.

well i drove it to work today only about 7 miles and it isnt making the same sound it was before. Now it seems like a creaky "woh" sound, like low power steering fluid sound only not as bad. no noise when driving straight

What year is the van? If it's a 99-03, then I would take it in for the front subframe recall.

Wait a second, that kind of sounds like a bad strut mount.

I did mine myself when I replaced the struts. You have to take the strut off and compress the spring. I used 2 sets of spring compressors from harbor freight, just to be on the safe side. Once you take off the strut, you're also going to need an alignment. The mount usually costs around $40-$50.
If you want to avoid the wheel alignment, you could take the control arm off with the strut still bolted to it, but it is more work and a little heavier.
