I drive a 99 s/w 2 and this mourning when I arrived at work I got out of the vehicle and the bell that chimes when you leave the headlights on or the key in the ignition the warning chime would not turn off even though the keys were out of the ignition and the headlights were off, however it stops chiming when you shut the door.Any ideas?

If you don't hear a small metallic tapping sound after turning the ignition off (from the run position) and removing the key then the ignition lock cylinder is probably sticking after you pull the key out. It has a switch integrated into to it that enables the "slow" chime when you leave your key in the ignition and open the driver's door, but disables that chime when the key is pulled out.
It is the same mechanism that enables the steering wheel lock. Pull the small plastic piece off that surrounds the ignition and spray some silicone spray (NOT WD-40) in there. Then insert the key, turn to "run" then to off, pull out the key and repeat that a few times. That should help free it up.
