One of the pictures is reversed because I wanted to show it accelerating, braking, and at rest - and I didn't have one at rest from the right side and angle - so I just flipped a picture round.

I'm not sure what I could say that might be interesting. I've driven the car several times - and twice since the rebuild.

It's special to be in an F1 at all, more so to drive one of course.
The noise is intoxicating - the engine has got to be the best ever made for a road car.
The two recent drives were a big contrast - the first was the first time it had been driven following the detailing (it was me driving in the video that appears earlier in this thread) and before the carbon brakes were fitted - it was on A and B roads in the UK. The second time was on an airfield.
I felt pretty nervous driving on smaller UK roads that were pretty bumpy - though the chance to open it up on a runway was really great - it felt good on a decent smooth surface. Would be great to use the runway again and mark out a course with cones and try to get an understanding of the handling when pushing the car. The weight reduction of the carbon discs was really noticeable - the steering was lighter and felt more precise. I'm not saying it did not feel fast on the runway - but you do lose the impression of speed somewhat. It didn't feel that we were pushing that hard (it was damp) - though trying to keep up in a 475bhp GT3 showed how fast an F1 is.

Indeed, am v. lucky - Flemke is the tops.
I did drive the car when standard though it was many years ago - it was definitely more compliant then.
The runway test was not at Dunsfold, much further away.

Dunsfold runway is 1.74 miles long.
Bruntingthorpe is usually used for high speed runs in the UK - it is 3.2km / 2 miles long.

Dunsfold is tricky, but not impossible to get on.
Bruntingthorpe is not difficult.
In both cases it's helpful to know the people who are approved for access (often for driver training, or testing purposes).

Nothing new that I know of - they were adjusting the rear pads, and at some point there will be some more runway testing going on. The weather is pretty variable at the moment so I would guess maybe something towards end of Feb or early March.

I honestly think it is unfair to phrase it as 'better than McLaren can offer'. It is clear by the residue left over from the pinstriper's tape that McLaren did not detail the car before it left their care - probably by request I might imagine.

It is definitely not correct to say that McLaren isn't able to offer a perfect paintwork.
I personally saw the car in March 2012 and it looked absolutely impeccable. There was a stunning depth in the colour and the surface was perfectly smooth - something you don't see very often!

I can confirm that we were requested not to touch the paint after actually painting the car, (including the final finishing and detailing we usually do)as the car was booked in with Paul.

Done a fantastic job on the engine bay, you expect the paintwork and external stuff to be like new but the finish on the actual engine is outstanding.

Bummer, need to have instagram account to see the pics/video/whatever. Not gonna happen.
Thanks for pictures of pretty #040. What is so special about #040, except that is has anonymous (to me) owner? :) I really don't know, and I googled about it... Is it that, secrecy and thats why its special or??
EDIT:
Maybe because he is an active forum member on PH and loves to share pics with other people...

DogZy - the car is special for a number of reasons. In the main, the car has been modified in various ways, from larger wheels to differing suspension items to interior trim changes [including carbon replacements for some interior parts] to a well documented lengthy decision making process on colours - having seen both the old colour and the new colour up close, the blues chosen on both occasions have been great choices.
Perhaps the most interesting 'part' of the car however is the owner, who somehow finds the time to reply to [most] sensible questions relating to not just the car, its intricate parts and other Mclaren variants in general but also on topics ranging from fonts, other cars of interest, colours etc :bigthumb:

I've added a few youtube videos of #040 to the Video thread (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=5883727#post5883727) if you can't see the Instagram ones :) [I like the 3rd one the best ;)]

Any owner willing to share his experiences in detail is special and Flemke has been more than forthcoming on that score, and what if he is anonymous it's his choice.
