Hello
The large tube is 8mm.
Drill a 1.2mm hole all the way through and also through the ali drive shaft.
Then with a 1.2mm plastic rod push it through the hole put 2X 2.4mm cut bits of tube as spaces next to the drive shaft.Push the rod right through to the other side.
When all is ok glue the rod and cut off.
The boot is from an RC car , I got them on Ebay.
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a210/puffyrs/gearbox14.jpg
I hope that helps.
Up todate with both shafts.

Been working on the shocks.
The rod can move so they can be adjusted.
I have also found out the not everything scales down ok.
The metel rod has a 2mm thread but a 2mm nut would look to big.
So the nut is a 1.6mm with the hole made bigger, I think it looks better.

Still working on the rear suspension.
It has taken a long time to build the rear hub.
I could not find the right size tube so ended up using 15mm copper plumbing pipe.

I agree with what JayKay said! Very cool indeed. Those rear hubs look ridiculously complicated - are the originals a casting or a fabrication? Either way, yours are looking really good. Once the engine's in the back too, it's going to be something else!

I could not find the right thing to bend the rod round, ended up using a 5p.

Been trying to casted some parts, 1st time.
All was ok but I was not happy with the end product.
I was wasting modelling time trying to get it right so I will have another go later.

moulds were ok but the resin did not get all the detail.
If I have to spend time working on them to get them right I might as well make them.

I was at the show too yesterday, and after talking to the owner of the Citroen Visa Trophee that wasn't allowed to run, certain modifications have to be made to the cars to allow them to be used nowadays.
Just a heads up that the rollcage, fire extinguisher system, seats and belts, plus a few other things may not be acurate.
Keep up the work on the model, still awesome to follow.

Your model was very good with great details when you see the real thing.

Superb. Partly because of the wonderful subject matter, but in particular the brilliant fabrication skills. Always look forward to seeing the next update.

That isn't an 037 - with a front differential it is four-wheel-drive, 037 is only rear-wheel-drive. Unless this guy is chopping up one of these classics on purpose...

Thanks for the photos.
Does look like someone is making a 4WD 037.

OK, can anyone tell me what that huge cylindrical aluminium extrusion in the first photo is? I'm guessing it's just for working out tunnel clearance?!

sorry for the intrusion, but is a recent news that Beppe Volta, in collaboration with Ing. Claudio Lombardi, has prepared a 037 with traction also on the front wheels via an electric motor.A sort of 037 "hybrid".
The project is called "037 4x4 H",if I,'m not wrong...
The car will make its debut this weekend in the Rally Legend, in the Republic of San Marino.
Martin,your work is awesome!!!
bye

yes, that's the new hybrid 4wd prototype in progress by volta.
Of course the meaning was only to show the tube frames and the naked chassis details.Original 037 was only RWD, yep.... ;)
And here u can find maybe some more useful Pics:

Still on the engine.
Been making the wheels for the drive belt.
Every one has to be made.
I start with a tube to the right size.
Then put the belt round it and push 0.5 rod through the teth of the belt.
It takes a while but the gaps are correct.

I'm still so much impressed by your work, incredible even if scale helps for getting visible details it mostly implies to make them !!
what a work, you're in for years !!
