I have a 01 impala with the 3.4 liter. I replaced the radiator and thermostat. I have bleed all air out of the system and its still getting hot. The electric fans are coming on and working fine. When you start the motor, water comes out the radiator and keeps going up and down . It keeps burping bubbles as well. It will go up and run out and back down, then it will start over. I have let it sit, jacked up the pass side to get air out.I have opened up both bleeders. I have done this for 2 days. I think it has a blown head gasket, cause of the burping and bubbleing. I am not for sure though. Could someone please shed some light on this for me please? All help will be greatly appreciated.

remove the spark plugs to reveal any coolant..

when engine is running and cap is off it bubbles this is the head or/and gasket. the reason it overheats is the water pump only pumps water.

I took plugs out and no coolant was found at all. I talked to the owner of the car today and told him i thought it was the head and or gaskets. I talked to him about what needed to be done and he just wants to put gaskets on it and go with it, I told him he is crazy for not having the heads checked out for hair line cracks. He dont want to. Do you think for sure the head or gasket is the problem. What did you mean about the water pump, I am not really following you on that part. Thanks for responding and helping me with this problem i got.

take the plugs out and crank engine .

color of plugs must be the same , any white tip plugs means water/coolant. when exhaust gases enter the coolant system the water pump only pumps water not air/vapor .

if the head gasket is blown , the heads will need to be checked for cracks and distortions. they get bowed etc...

replacing the intake gaskets should be done also ..

If the car had been overheated, it would be stupid not to send the heads into the shop and have them magnafluxed for cracks and checked for warps. Unless you want to do the job over. Then again if its worth doing, its worth doing again.

I agree. I am not going to warrenty anything on this if he does not agree to let me have them checked. I kinda thought from the get go that i might not need to fool with this guy and i think i was right.
