why dont you spend a lil more and get a lancer evo.8 that car will give you all the pickup you need, it has freckin 19 PSI at full open throttle!!!
19 PSI:eek:
plus the 4g63 motor is very tunneable.. you can cost well over 320+hp with jus a few boltons....
i personally dont like the new eclipse is ugly and slow..
but if u insist on hooking one up
get intake. ehaust, headers, change your plugs and wires, and maybe a shot of N.O.S. for kicks...
my $0.02

well each generation is heavier than the previous
with the 3rd gen. being the heaviest with the less power.
so if you want pick up, you know which gen. to go with

97GST has it. Go for a 1st gen '92 AWD with the 6bolt engine and the 4 bolt LSD rear end. Check the compression before you buy. If you work on the car yourself, you'll be in the 12's packin 300+hp and ft lbs. for 20 c-notes give or take. These are the basics you need:
Mitsubishi Big16g turbocharger ported with 34mm flapper
Full 3" exhaust SS
Ported 2nd gen or EVO manifold
Full intake from Dejontools
Spearco intercooler core 2-216 w/2.5" piping
660cc injectors and 255 fuel pump rewired
ACT 2600# clutch
Apexi SAFC, MAF translater, and boost controller
Boost, EGT, A/F gauges
Pocketlogger
If you know how to MIG or TIG you can do your exhaust and IC piping in stainless for $300 +/-.

dude, i have a 01 GT spyder, and i love it. stock, it is kinda slow if you want a race car. for a normal car on the road, depending where you are, it is quick, but not at all a race car. mine now competes with the 5.7 v8's but that is what i suggest getting if you want the most HP for your buck... a Z28 camaro. it has the most HP you can find for your dollar, and going all engine it is easy to increase easily. that is if you want a REAL race car, and can handle a rear wheel drive sprts car. if you want a rice burner, you are not getting a real car. yes, i know that i have one, but it took me about 15,000 in aftermarket parts and 2 years to get to where i am. from what i understand of your situation, the Z28 is the way to go for you.

I used to have a 2000 Eclipse GT w/ Sportronic. Umm....it made for a great daily driver. I still kinda miss the low down grunt of the V6 though, LoL. but once 3,000rpm's come rolling around. I don't miss the V6 as much. :)
But if you're looking for speed...the new Eclipse would not be it. GTSpyder has it. Z28 or a WS6 are quite nice......I'm more partial to the WS6 though, hehe.

yup, glad that some people in this forum actually know something about cars... the only prob with the 5.7 V-8's is that they are not made anymore unless u can afford a C5, (that is a corvette for those of you who don't know) and the prob with gettin a used car is that you get someone elses problems, but not if you get aftermarket everything :)
my best friend in new jersey has a WS6, and his car runs 11.3
it is a very fast car, and my car can not touch his int eh speed department. the only prob with the WS6 is that is is kinda expensive.. i would go with the z28 over the ws6 even though the ws6 package gives u more HP, but it still like 6K more from the dealer (which you can't get anymore - to reiterate)

well stock, the new eclipse gt isn't too fast for what it is. My friend has a 6 cylinder mustang that ripped his friend apart, and his friend was driving an '01 Eclipse gt. I'd say go with a muscle car for "out of the factory" speed. But if you wanna spend the cash, and have the fun of "making" a faster car, than go with a 2g eclipse, an si, or something around those lines.

thats gotta be the stupidest comment ive ever heard.
not many of the 3g owners bought the car for the speed. it can hold its own against daily cars, but not many are race worthy and we know that. the thing is, i think its the best styling gen. if you want to drive a car that you cant go to any meet or show and see 20 cars exactly like yours, then the 2g is it. and the 1g's, what can you say, theey're way past their prime. the rust is forming, the dash squeeks in every crevice, and there's no legroom or rear seat. i bought the 3g for the convenience of a daily driver that isnt going to get killed by any "everyday" honda.

Way past their prime? I can blow the doors off ALMOST any other street driven import or domestic I come across. Pump gas: 12.65@108mph, 1.64 60ft, 7.98@88mph at PIR.
Rust? Its not one of the big three.
The dash does squeek a pinch, but thats from me ripping it apart several times for the needed gauges and electronics.
No leg or rear seat room. I didn't buy my car to taxi all my friends around.

sorry, i put it wrong. im not bashing the 1g's. my good friend has a 1g and i love it.
and im not saying the 1g is past their prime for performance. im a cosmetic person. its gotta look nice before speed comes into play. and the 1g's interior... it looks like it came outta the 80's. and im up in michigan, so by now, you rarely see a 1g without rust.

3rd Gen Eclipse Sucks HARD ASS!!!! NOt even worth a PENNY in my book FWD NA Engine... What the hell was Mitsubishi thinking? On top of that the 6cyl version only has 60 more horses than the 4banger...
2nd or 1st Gen ok but I would look into getting GSX.

I can't stand the look of the new Eclipse!!! I'm not exactly sure why they even come out...oh right! To appease the rest of the public. I guess they figured racers now would be the Evo so make the Eclipse appeal to everyone. it seems more of a chick's car now. Just my look at it.
I just got a '94 for $2200. it's quite nice...a couple of problems but it still should cost overall, the car should still be under $4000. Great deal!
Interior wise, yeah, kind of low but that can be fixed like any other. I want my car fast. Don't care too much about looks. That can all come later. An Eclipse cries for speed...the new ones are definitely crying...

I've got a 2000GS 5 speed... It is has some pick up not much.. Mine is in the shop the second gear went out on it... it has been in there for about two weeks... it is a half way decent car but not good for the track at all.... I live in east TN so there is not a lot of straight away speed but it is fun in the corners!!!

I cant stand the fact that some of you are defending this poor excuse for a sports car... back when my 240sx was stock I could eat a 2000 eclipse gt up. The car is a "Wannabe" sports car, I hate it, I disrespect it, and flat out which it was never made. I remember the time when I wanted a 95-99 GSX, but could not find any so I bought my S14, but now that the new eclipse came out I am slowly losing respect for all Eclipse.

what do u know about sports cars? last time i checked, a "sports car" must have at least 270 HP. otherwise, it is not a sports car. that is just insurance purposes, but still. what makes a car a sports car? if you think that just giving a car the name eclipse makes it fast, you are mistaken. i don't think anyone has any false hope for this car.it has 200 HP stock, and so do most family cars. so, that is it. it has 200 HP, and that is a good amount to get in front of most cars on the road. if you need more than that, then you should look to a different car. i don't think that any owner of the 3G bought it for its amazing speed or potential in that area. i certainly did notl.

Until you drop $1,000 into each of them. Don't you just hate that, people comparing stuff like a V6 Eclipse to the turbo models, or a B16 Civic to a GST, or even an H22 Civic to a DSM with $3,000 in it. Turbo Eclipse's are above most other similar priced imports. The AWD models are more comparable to 3Z's, VR4's, Supras, ect. in the way they perform and make power gains. Its just the poor mans straight line(not saying a GSX is a live axel Camaro, but EVO's handling is amazing)EVO.

A Sports Car used to be easy to define. It used to be a two sitter with an open top that's it! It didn't matter too much if it didn't handle too well or if it didn't have a lot of power. As long as it had two seats an open top and it was fun to drive, it was invariably called a Sports Car.
Nowadays however, we tend to call most fast two-door cars Sports Cars. It can be any combination of two doors with open top, hard top, two seats or four seats. As long as it has two doors (hatchbacks included) and it is a thrill to drive, we call it a Sports Car.
Well... we don't fully disagree with this broad definition; however, we would like to narrow it down a bit when dealing with two door four sitters. We'll call them Sports Cars only if the rear seats are not as comfortable as the seats in a four door family sedan.
as far as dropping money into it, you are exactly right. it is much cheaper, and you will see much more gain to upgrade some stock forced induction parts.

A sports car can be any car whether designed by Factory or Custom built to go fast handle well, under certain conditions... HorsePower is not what makes a car a sports car. If you were to take a High horse power car without great handling and put a reasonably mid horse power car on the same track with good handling the mid horse power car would win.
For example put a Integra Type R vs Mustang GT im pretty sure the Type R would win. Only on track not straight line. So basically what im saying is now days any car can be considered a sports car.

the only merit you have with your post is that you picked an integra type R, which CAN be considered a sports car.

i gotta disagree with you here, and iin the name of looks, the 3g looks way better than the 1g. i can't stand they way they look.. way too boxy. manybe if you put a body kit on there and lower it, it will look b=good, but then that is the same situation for every car. maybe i am a "bitch for liking my 2001 spyder, but i loved it from the factory. i did not even plan on buying when i went to the mitsu dealership, but i saw that car in the showroom floor, and i decided right then that i wanted it for myself.
also, i can't stand the "real racers" who will do anything in the name of speed, and brag about their Grand National that is turbo charged from the cactory. that car looks like complete ass, and i don't care how fast it can go, nor do i care how many car lenghts it an beat me by. what i am concerned with, is when i go to the beach, and i drive around with the top down, which car will more girls come over too - and how many of them can i take back to a party with me.
maybe that is a dumb thing to say, but i guess that we each have out own reasons for buying our cars. i also would never buy a used car. it is impossible to know what the original owner, or multiple owners have done, and the only way i would feel confident buying used, is if i intended to chance every part that could wear anyway.
i like the way my car looks stock, and that is why i am going back the the stock body, and taking off the blitz kit.

A boxy 1g...thats sort of an oxymoron. I have nothing boxy about my car. And believe it or not, girls like speed. You may not know that as a 3g owner, but its true. Girls who like a car for its looks are a dime a dozen....the ones who like em for speed are 1 in a mil. Which gorl would you rather have? Good decision on the removal of the kit BTW:bigthumb:

What size is you're t3/t4 does anyone else fucking hate when ricers say I have a t3/t4 turbo that's emanage tuned. Doesn't that really say I read some stuff in a mag and posted it because it sounds cool.
How about you be a tad more specific in you're post. This is not some honda ricer thread most here actually know what this shit is. Get you're shit right, if you post bullshit we will know it.

the only merit you have with your post is that you picked an integra type R, which CAN be considered a sports car. GT Spyder your an idiot... and yes that Civic Hatch would be considered a sports car just cause "YOU" dont think its a sports car doesn't mean that it isn't.
I was just using that as an example... so Civics, and etc. are not true
sports cars? If you think that you are mistaken, and what do you know you have a POS 3rd GEN Rice Wannabe Rocket... Not even good enough to be called "RICE ROCKET" Oh and if a sports car is not just handling and speed... Then was is a True Sports Car? A car made by Ferrari? or better yet Mclaren? Come on man Tell me...

i would say that a true sports car can not be more than a 2 seater, or if it has back seats, it could not have a lot of room back there, so that u could maybe fit 2 adults back there, but uncomfortably, effectively making the car a 2 seater. i would also say that the car must have at least 270HP. i guess the reason that i came up with this number is because that is what the mustang GT comes with, and i think the mustang is pretty slow, so this is the slowest that i would want a "sports car" to be. i don't consider my car to be a sports car at all. i would consider a Z28, a WS6, barely the mustang GT..BMW's that have a lot of power, and are very expensive are not sports cars either - they are luxury sedans. if it has 4 doors, it is not a sports car. a sports car must be a coupe, or it can not be considered a sports car. if you have more questions about this, i am sure that you can call your insurance company and ask them what they consider to be a sports car.

this is becoming a stupid thread. if more people would give their opinions, it would be better, but this is turning into a dumb argument. a ferrari is a sports car, and any civic (cept for the s2000) will never be. it is just that simple.

So a Mustang is a sports car? I thought it was a muscle car, you know, more power than its chassis/suspension can handle.

Maybe I'm bias, but I love my car. Not to mention she's all stock right now (CAI is on the way :D ). It doesn't have a whiny engine like my friend's celica. I find the third gen to be more "with the times" and I generally like 2nd gen, but they look like they are a fad no its last days, ya know? The look is getting out dated. (No bitter responses 2nd gen ppl. if i had the money i'd buy me a 99 GSX and trick it out completely ;) But back to 3rd gen, I love the way it drives with the exception of a crappy turning radius, but it's fast and it's still easy to keep under control going 130 (gotta love open oklahoma highways). Ok, I'm just rambling, go and get yourself an eclipse! :icesangel

People always considered the eclipse a girl cars. I must say the 3rd gen cars took that analogy and ran with it, total bitch-mobile.

1G or go home? are you serious? the 1G is the ugliest model of the eclipse ever. the second gen looks better, but the 3rd is the best. i don't care if you like the speed of the 2G, but the 1G is a horrible looking car. i don't care if there can be turbo from the factory. if the car looks like ass (which the 1G does) then i will not go anywhere near it. another example of this is the buick grand national. it looks like ass, but has a factory turbo. not what i am about. i will sacrifice speed for looks any day. so maybe i am not a real racer, oh well. guess what - NO ON ON THIS SITE IS!!!
if you don't get paid to race, and your car is not rear wheel drive, you don't have a car that is made for racing. that simple.

I don't take things personally coming from a driver of an overweight, fake testerossa (sp?) sides, altezzas from the factory, dog of a car, so I won't debate the looks of the 1g; its not for everyone. All I will say is that you are a grammar whiz, and seriously flawed in your definition of racing. There is more to life than drag racing, and some of the BEST cars in the world (race, or otherwise) are neither RWD, nor have "Redman Plug" on the side of them. Remove your head from your ass.:bigthumb:

If you are a serious racer then why would you buy a 3G? and a spyder yet, thats gotta be the worst choice of any car to race  1G is THE platform to go racing with.
As if the 1G looks like ass, it has long hood, sleek roofline, subtle factory ground effects. At least I'm not plowing through the air like your semi does :bloated: :loser:

The rs/gs runs around 16.5-17.5 and the gt can run 14.5-15.5 stock.
I have a 3g and i do like it.It is not an easy car to mod if that is what you are looking for. It WILL get very expensive becuase the best thing you can do for it right now is the RIPP supercharger. That will run you at least 3500 not to mention a engine build up if you want more boost.
Yes if i wanted a really fast car i would have tried harder to find a 2g gsx or gst but i was running out of time to get a car. You said you were a teenager right? You might want to check insurance first to see what it will run you.
