did you remove parts to have them tested??
do you have 12v @ the alternator??
have you checked the fuses?under the hood(engine compartment)

i have seen on this web of a maxi 175 amp fuse located somewhere but cant find it all fuse in the box under the hood check fine the alt was pulled and checked but its hard to get to its down deep in the wheel well im going back in tomarro to check for volt at the alt

book says 175A mega fuse is under the hood in the fuse/relay box
also a 30a fuse

did some volt check i have voltage at large post and with key on voltage at the red wire going to regulator not voltage at little green wire at regulator fyi maxi fuse is on the end of fuse box by radiator

Ok i have changed the alt and still no charge i have 12.28 v at batt and 12v at the alt i said i have the main wire and two wires going to the regulator a small green and a nother wire green has 0v the other wire has 12v at it the regulator has three terminals in its main connector but my connector only has two the center is not used. all fuses under hood and dash are good maxi fuse is good any ideas HELP

i have done some looking on autozone wire diagram i think the alts the auto parts have given me wont work because of the regulator wireing is diffrent from the two valve and four valve what do some of you think thanks

i had same problem but not on a sable there was a wire burnt off behind my fuse box in car.

this one has me stumped looking at the wire diagram on autozone for two diffrent motors one take s three wires on the regulator the other has two am i not seeing something in this trouble i have looked at rock auto on diffret alts they all take the same alts i have 12+v at main terminal 12+v at the regulator terminal wy is this not charging HELP HELP

if you have 12v @ the alternator it maybe that it is the wrong alt.
take back the alt. & see if they will let you try the other one listed
you have a non flex fuel engine correct??

your other wire that you mention is orange/lt.blu correct??
if so you have 12v(org/lt blu)going in but 0v( Lt green/red) coming out
this is why i think they gave you wrong part 2 wire vs 3 wire regulator

i have looked at a couple of alts at the parts store none only have two terminals in the regulator assy im wondering if i moved the wires around i can get it working but i realy dont want to do thatim looking at two wire schematics from az one 1996 to 99 3.0 2valve and 1996to99 3.0 4 valve and im still thinking there is the right regulator out there for this car

there are two application 3.0 2valve and 3.0 double overhead cam i have the 3.0 DOHC

i have found out the green wire has a 5a fuse on it # 11 for the batt light indicator were is this fuse located and were 's it get its power all fuses under dash check good but some dont have pwr to them is this normal im going to az web to look at diagrams

haveing the same damn problem. good alt good battery good fuses and relays all around, has to be a wire somewhere, but where though. i'd be really happy if someone knew how to solve this annoying problem.

this was a car i was working on sent it packing but i will give the guy a call to find out if they found the trouble and get back with ya
