1995 SL1 acceleration hesitation

Hey, hope someone has seen this before, it is a little strange. My 4 speed, automatic SL1 has been experiencing extreme hesitation upon acceleration, but it only seems to be happening when in gear. I can sit in park or neutral and rev the engine and it seems fine, no engine noise or anything. Any advice is apperciated.
