This is my new build as you may guess it is Honda again. The model is curbside with very simplified suspension and chassis.

Mold quality is top level however there are some ejector pin marks in very uncomfortable places. It is especially visible in the interior.

I will use Tamiya etch set and add some carbon decals, nuts and bolts. So, I hope the it will be very nice model.

I dulled screw holes in the chassis to "de-toy" it a bit.

you seem to love NSXs as much as I do.

I prefer the pre-facelift car in terms of its looks but I'm still looking forward to seeing this one finished and for more to come.

That's true - I love them. It is possible that I will do combo with Raybrig.. :)

Last update for today...

Suspension is done as well as the brakes. I need to put some decals on calipers and weather brakes to underline details.

Carbonizing has been started... Decals react very well to Microscale, I use S27 Decal A (part of interior) and SMS 1024 for chassis. I will darken it and paint with 2K clear.

Whole underbody is already decaled. I have darken it with TS-71 and unfortunately some discolorations have appeared :banghead:. Next time I will start with clear and then I will use Smoke...

Red arrow shows problematic area. I will have to do sth with that.
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/ARTA_NSX/12.jpg

I put rims decals. Decals are printed by Cartograf and they are simply fantastic in terms of printing quality and how easy thay lay down on the model.

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/ARTA_NSX/13.jpg

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/ARTA_NSX/13a.jpg

I have noticed that panel with switches (ignition ect) is a decal. It is another Tamiya simpification. I will create all switches from scratch and use labels from the decal.

Clear coat so-so

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/ARTA_NSX/17.jpg

I am not worried about clear coat :) as I am going to achieve semi-gloss finish - in fact I would like to achieve the effect (hope permission granted) Jaykay has presented in his Jordan 191 WIP, page 8.

Suspension mounted using screws and dry fitted with body. Wheels dry fitted only. They will have Bridgestone logo painted on tommorow. Spent about 40 minutes to remove release agent from tires which was particulary resistant.

Yes, I used PE stencil from Tamiya PE set.

Thanks!

Now it is a time for interior. The number of ejector pin marks is crazy... Bad Tamiya!

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/ARTA_NSX/22.jpg

They are in hard to reach places so I decided to cut off whole floor and make new from scratch.

Yes! NSX Flinstones GT500:grinyes:

I am looking for pics of the cockpit and can't find any... I have a pic of the dashboard but none of the floor/computers etc.

The easy one is done:

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/ARTA_NSX/24b.jpg

I can't find good reference photo of the "electronics side" of the interior. I have two pictures, both rather bad and they are showing only a part of the interior. I think I will compile Tamiya version, pics and my imagination.

The first one is the only one I have but not the second picture. I am afraid that this second is NSX but earlier version (different door cards and roll cage).

Anyway, thank you again!

What do you have for a milling machine? I very much want to get a desk top lathe & mill, but just cant come up w/ the money.

I use Proxxon Micro MF70 desktop millig machine. It is reasonably priced and veru usefull in modeling jobs. I use it as a drill also.

Decided to give a little break from detaling and continue with carbon decals. I have to carbonize interior first to finish cabling and other details.

For those who are interested a short how to.

Templates – I make them for repeating decals or difficult shapes. I am working on Raybrig version as well and that’s why cockpit needs templates.
Tamiya tape and pencil
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/ARTA_NSX/29a.jpg
Tamiya tape put on paper and cut off.
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/ARTA_NSX/29c.jpg
Dry fitting before decal is prepared.
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/ARTA_NSX/29b.jpg

I prepare only one template for mirrored shapes. Just flip and cut.

I take special care about the part of shape which has to fit perfectly. In this case bottom of the decal is important, the top will fold down on the cockpit edge.

While cutting decal it is worth to remember a few things.

- Shape drawn on decal paper is a bit bigger than the template at least it's wider for a pencil line width
- Check carbon fibre pattern to mach it on each part of decals
- Draw shape on the decal paper not on the decal itself. Doing this this way saves the rest of the decal from damage
- When shape is curved I cut a bit bigger decal

I try to simplify shapes. I think it is much easier to cut two simple shapes than one more complicated. It saves your nerves especially while laying them down on the model.

Some progress pisc:
Decal: SMS 1024 (they have new shade and it is imho perfect), Microscale and Gunze decal solutions used.

This is a full set of carbon decals for cockpit. As you may notice the shapes are not ideally cut - I made them a bit overlaping so I don't need tight clearences.

Interior decaling is almost finished. I have also drilled hole for gear change shaft. SMS decals are really great. It is very easy to control the process of softing them and they behave in predictable manner. I used Microscale and Gunze softeners with aid of my wife's hair dryier.

Thank you Gents! Pleasure that you like my work.

I have learned to avoid panic if something goes wrong :) and SMS gives me enaugh time to correct most of the misteakes. Probably that's why I like them. Anyway I will probably try CM to see the difference.

As to CF - I cut all of the decals with great attention to fibre pattern. I tried to lay them in the way to mask/hide seems and additionaly achieve look of real cf.

Thank you again

I have darken underside only as I used old SMS decals. Interior, side skirts and intake they are all raw CF (SMS 1024). SMS has changed shade of their decals and they are darken.

In my opinion they look spot on without any color modifications.
