I'm having problems with my back brakes not coming on all of a sudden...we push the brake peddle but no lights, it's not the light bulbs I checked them...so I'm thinking wiring, but can some one tell me what color is the wire that directs the lights to come on. I might have a break in one of them and have to fix it. My Radio went dead to.
Thanks
Thanks

If the cruise control stops working too, it could be the "Brake ON/OFF switch" who is defective or the fuse for this switch is blown. Check the switch under the brake pedal.

Here is a picture of the Brake On Off (BOO) switch on my '96 windstar.
In my case, a wire broke off.....not uncommon.
However, I had a issue with the brake lights intermittently not working at a later time and replaced the switch.
It is a easy DIY job.

Easy fix but it's still not working.:banghead:

I know you did say you've checked the fuses, but did you check fuse #11 rated at 10 amps - it's in the interior fuse panel.

Check voltage after the switch when it's pressed to know if the problem is upstream the switch or downstream the switch. If it's downstream, it could be the brake light wires that go to the lamps. It could be a short circuit too.
For the radio, check voltage between the radio fuse and GND.
