When i start my car and hold the brakes the ABS and Traction Off light will NOT come on, but when i let go of the brakes they both come on. The brakes work fine and the brake fluid is full. Any ideas on what could be triggering these lights

Could be as bad as a Problem with the EBCM, or more likely a Wheel Hub. Best bet would probably be to get the ABS Code read, would narrow down your problem.

I had ABS and Traction lights showing on my 04 because my brakes needed to be changed. new pads and rotors and it stopped. had to squeeze the brakes down so far the level would show as low and the lights come on. there are apparently no chirpers on these cars so this is how they tell you to get your brakes done...

maybe just time for brakes. still could be a bigger issue tho

My 2004 Grand Am did the same thing a few months ago. Replaced both front wheel hubs and the lights went away.

The ABS and Trac lights were telling you the BCM had shut off those two systems due to low brake fluid. The fluid level was low because the brake pads were almost worn out, causing the pistons to be extended farther in the calipers, and therefore requiring more fluid from the reservoir.

The pads do have tabs on them that squeal when they are worn enough.
