nasty vinegery, "roadkill" smell from a/c.

just bought an 07' impala LT from carmax. no issues besides the horrible dead rodent like smell coming from the vents when i turn the air on. its even there when i just have it set to vent in the air coming in from outside. smells like theres a dead rat rotting in the motor somewhere. pretty bad. any help on how i could get rid of this smell? if so, is it a pretty simple job?

If it is a dead rodent you it could take several hours of tearing apart the dash (always start with blower motor, not sure how difficult on that vehicle but typically it takes anywhere from 10 minutes to a hour to do on most cars.

(I have used BG's foam but I could not find a link for it, they may have disconinued). Any how there are several products like this on the market but is no good for dead rodents, LOL :runaround:

hmm... even tho it does smell like rotting rodents, i want to tell myself it isnt. ive done some searching around and some ppl have said it might be mold? from something under the dash, some condensation thing... ?

Normally Mould growing on the Evap Coil smells musty/Mouldy. If the smell is REALLY that bad, I'd Fear you may have a Corpse somewhere in the system.
