Then I think you mean an LS VTEC.
Iv never heard of VTECK.
And since the B20 is not normaly a VTEC engine, then I think you actualy mean an LS block with a B18c or B16a head, which yields a higher compression ratio and slight larger cupic capcity than a B18c.
The B20 VTEC is a B20 block fitted with either the B16a or B18c head to give it VTEC.
Both are known as Frankenstien engines.
Fitting a B20 with an LS head sounds a bit silly to me, as I think you will find they both share the same head (or a very similar one)
And in all cases I would have to choose the B18c, while the LS and B20 VTEC have been proven to work, I dont think the gains from the extra capacity are worth the amount of work required, or the still unresolved reliablity issues associated with matching a block, cranks and rods up to a head it was never designed to take, and useing the combo to produce hp numbers they were never designed for.
With the right work done to a B18c the same gains can be realised with out the same sacrifices to reliablity.

yeah a ls veteck is a b18 block with a b20 head which is pretty high compression motor i think its like 10:5:1 and a gsr is think 9:1:1. which would make the ls vteck a faster motor about as fast as a type-R.:D

Okay... aparently Moppies subtlety went unnoticed...
It's VTEC not veteck or vtek or vteck or vtech... Personally, I don't care what you call it, I know what you mean, but some people get their panties in a bunch when they see it spelled wrong, and they'll give you a rash of crap about it...
Just a helpful hint.

LS/VTEC = B18 block, B16 head.
CRVTEC - B20 Block, B16/B18C head aka Frankenstein.
What B20 head is a VTEC head?

The LS VTEC would have alittle more power but would cost so much mroe money and time. SO if time and money are no option then go with the LS VTEC, but if youre like the rest of us and dont have a crap load of money, then go with the GSR engine. If I had enough money for an LS VTEC I would buy the GSR and buuild the heck out of it. Thatd spank the crap out of an LS VTEC in the same car. I vote GSR.

Please, inform me of how a ls/vtec, or cr/vtec can cost more than a $3100 b18c swap?
Also, people say an ls/vtec hybrid motor is hard to build? Okay....

well, i guess the parts would probably cost about the same. The thing that will cost a lot of money is building the engine. Since the LS Block isnt made for vtec, I think he'd have to drill an oil line. Plus I dont know many people that do LS VTEC's very often, so he'd prolly have to find someone to install it. And you know theyre gonna rape him on the price. And if he finds someone to build it cheap then they more than likely wont know what theyre doing and its gonna be real unreliable and he's gonna have to fix it constantly.

You dont even have to drill an oil line in the block.
ls/vtec is not an expensive process, compared to a b18c

Ok back to the topic. I would chose the gsr motor cause of reliability. I dont care about ls v-tec or cr v-tec even if its built right theres a break down period for them. If its daily driven u gotta tear it down and rebuild it . It depends how much u drive it i guess. Gsr is a perfect swap. You have the torque and the high end power.

how did I manage to miss all this glorious glorious action? Damnit!!!!!
Guess it was because I was getting f'ed up last night at the club!! Yeah!
Anyway, the LSVTEC is not a good motor combination for what we (WP?civichb and I) have heard locally. The rod to stroke ratio is awful for high RPM use causing the rings to be destroyed by side loading forces with the cylinder wall at high RPM's. Also, the oil pump on an LS block begins to cavitate after about 7200 rpm, meaning NO OIL PRESSURE, which....isn't good. The LSVTEC is over-rated in my opinion. Sure it makes good power but for how long? And is it worth the troubles? Out of the two, I would choose GSR because it is designed to do what it does. With a few mods, nothing will touch a 4th gen with a GSR swap.
Now, me knowing what I know about WP?civichb I would reccomend a SOHC VTEC swap realizing what is soon to become. It is about...oh, $2500 cheaper than the GSR and it will give you adequate power and then you can spend the other $2500 on a PHAT turbo/supercharger/NOS setup, your choice. Of course, with that, you could also sling in some nice rods, pistons, and blockguard to boot and hold more boost.
Don't hate, just my $.02
