D16A9=ZC....I know Ive said it before

Ok Ive brought this up in the past. A D16A9 Out of a 88/89 Teg.....its almost the same specs as a ZC....now most of you have said to stay away from it and its not going to work. Well here is some info that kinda shows the opposite. They say the D16A9 is a ZC essentially and it will bolt in.

The Integra engine does not bolt right up to the 4G Civic chassis, it will bolt up to the 3G Civic though. But 4G would require custom mounts, and that alone is already too much work than its worth, I don't think the A8/9 even has a much HP as the ZC.

the 88-89 usdm teg had a d16a1 which does not bolt in

The 88-89 Teg engine only racks up about 118 @ the crank. Which is closer to 105 @ the wheels. They are quick I have driven a couple 88-89 Tegs. But the work would not be worth it.

well according to the www.4thgenerationcivic.com specs it is 137 BHP, and it DID come in the 4th gen coz i had one in there, so y dont u just buy EDM mounts and then bolt the fukker straight in???

^^^^^^^^
What he said. It also came out in the '90-'91 Aussie spec CRX Si . It is a ZC motor that has been redesignated - that was the only difference with 88-89 CRX and 90-91. Rated at 130bhp at the flywheel. It was also released in the EG series Aussie Si Civic.
The only way the JDM spec ZC/D16A9 was ever down on power was in the computer controlled twin-carb setup.
137 seems too much in standard JDM trim civic 16valver, but 130 is what all Fi ZCs were rated at, which is what he is after. Unless it's just the U.S. getting sucky motors as usual

Ooops - forgot to mention - you can take an Aussie spec Si CRX and bolt the engine, bonnet etc straight across into a SOHC twin-carb GL 4G - so the mounts are fine - in this case anyway. Even the brackets are there for wiring looms, computer etc :)

nope, it wont, you guys need to look at the engine again. I bought one from a junkyard thinking it was a ZC, tried to put it in and the mounts do not line up AT ALL, and it is not rated a 130, thats bull its rated like 105 at the wheels, ive drove both, the integra and my ZC civic and the zc pulls WAY harder than the teg did, the teg just felt like my old DX engine.
anyway, don't do it please, you will prolly get more horses from a friggen exhaust than that motor, it sucks.

Fucking hell - the ZC was stamped as the D16A9 and bolted into Aussie CRXs IN JAPAN!!!! The engine was also used in the EG Si Civic. Not to mention in the Euro trash cars. It came with slightly more AP equipment but still produced 130 bhp. Go figure
Anyone got a brick wall?????
That or your US spec cars had a totally different engine that was also designated the same way as Honda - but even Honda in the US isn't that dumb... is it?

now for all you guru's....why do we not see more EDM or JDM factory motor mounts out there. Would that not be a nice way to swap in the B16....with factory mounts. I mean we are buying the goddamn motor from the car, why not include the mounts....or are they in a totally differnt spot on the USDM cars.

my civic came stock with a d16a6:p :p You are meaning the A9....plus...they never said it would fit into the car stock. They both said to get the EDM mounts....then bolt it in....In that case it would be a cheep ZC.....but just a knockoff....since I can get a ZC shipped to my door for about $1000 CDN.....Its pretty cheep for me to do this.

ahh fuck it, im done warning you, go out and buy it and learn the hard way, up until I tried the swap I was convinced the 88-89 integra engine was the ZC, but it is not, close, but its not, its slower and will not blot in, but hey if you wanna go cheap on everything and end up with a Peace of steaming shit in your engine bay then go for it
dont believe everything you see on the internet, most of those sites give false info, like the 88-89 axles will work with the zc tranny (bullshit) and the 88-89 intermediate shaft will work with the tranny (bullshit) and pretty much every info site will say they do work.

I think some of us in here think the D16A9 came in the 88-89 integra, which in fact they did NOT! It was the D16A1, which is not similiar to the ZC. Well, it kind of is, its a dohc motor. :bloated: But they are very different. I have compared side by side, and tore both apart. In fact, I have the D16A1 in parts in my shed, because the only real thing that was worth anything in there were the pistons.

I have the EDM mounts for D16A9 my previus engine so if anyone needs it tell the price and I can ship those to him, the rear mount is redone and it's harden and made for rally use...that is why the engine is more repolsive and it doesnt shake that much but a lot of vibrations goes on chasis, but it's a mild version of rally mount!!!!
So if anyone needs those mounts say the price and I'll think about it, I already have the b16 mounts on their way to me :D :D :D so till the end of this summer the b16a2 with at least 200HP + is going in :p
This is how the EDM D16A9 130HP stock looks like ;)

Hi there Setanta :p
Work on my engine is going very slow, money problems, I recently order the mount kit with shift linkage and wiers from some guy that post his stuff on this forum (THNX to him) so my friend bought that kit for me and now the package with those parts is on it's way to me...that is the coolest part so far....
So what I've got or better say will get or have is:
HAVE:
-engine B16A2
-transmission for that engine
-ECU obd2 + all wires
-mugen head gasket
-race clutch
-some parts for hidro clutch
-DC sport 4-1 header (cheramic)
WILL BE GETTIN':
-HASport mount kit
-HASport shift linkage
-HASport haring weirness for B16A1 (something like that)
NEED:
-ITR cam shafts
-ITR valves
-ITR valve springs
-axles
WOULD LIKE TO GET:
-ITR whole dash
-ITR back seats
So I think that I'll finish that little project of mine till September I hope so!!!
That shit is so expencive and lot of parts must be ordered from States or other countries cause in here you can't get shit :( :( :(
When that project of mine will be finished it'll be the first honda in Slovenia with engine SWAP done on it!!! ;)
The whole project will prolly cost me arround 5000 $ :(
Have a nice day !

that is the top model motor we got here in the use for those years. EGs got the d16z6 for si and ex models

d16a1... brown top zc pos motor. doesn't not bolt right up to the 4g chassis.
