My hardest to find kits must be Fujimi Ferraris. I have two F355 GTS:s, an enthusiast 246GT Dino, two 246GTS:s and a GTB Daytona. I think the Daytona is the rarest of them all. Got it (and the 246GT) from a hobby shop sale about 4-5 years ago for ~$15:cool: I should be happy I got it so cheap, but at the same time I'm kicking myself because I took only one Daytona and left several on the shelf.. now I can't build it because I'm scared I'll ruin it:cry:
Ahh... 365GTB/4 Daytona. Pure Italian beauty:)
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/330961gtb.jpg
BTW tamiyarevell: www.nimpex.de still has F355 GTS:s for sale. I got mine from there.

Thanks for the info Ray. After the trouble I had with Sanxler on ebay, I never searched for models on it again. Will give it a try.
Anyway, to get ontopic: I don't have really hard to find kits. :)

Just filled my missing S15 collection, that I've been searching (more like waiting, actually)
Only 2000 of each were produced, so I say, it's hard to find for a plastic model. No more of these tuned S15, aren't there? Anyone know?
Esplit and Garage Defend S15
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/475670s15esplit-mak.jpg
C-West Westin S15 aero version I (although, I prefer more aggressive ver.II)
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/687455s15westin.jpg
And the best looking of these four, Garage Mak S15.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/664440s15mak.jpg
The only one that I want now is Bandai's 1/16 Porsche 924, which I intend to convert to my 944S.

I have one, if you like cleaning and trimming lots of parts, you'll like it. It's a good kit and it looks right but tons of work and patience to build it. :)

well, I currently have a dodge shelby charger waiting for a build. once the V8 charger is done I'll get stuck into that, I think I'll go all turboed on you. I used to have some rare kits, a 69 GT500(the original version, without custom parts) which melted when stripping the paint, and a monogram GT-350 H which I returned to the store for missing ONE wheel. about a week later I found a set of magnum 500's  one rare kit I would like is another 68 GT500 to do, I'd turn it into a targa tasmania car :p besides, why sell it to some weirdo who'll cut it up and paint it green anyway?

I've got one of those too. It was re-issued a few years back so it is not rare, yet. It is, however, becoming harder to find. I've seen prices at £25 GBP for that kit.
Untill now i still cannot find the Original Teile!!!!
If you are desperate just to build that kit, try writing a letter to the International Division at Tamiya, Inc. Japan and request the decal sheet. They might have some left in stock. PM me and will provide you with the necessary ID codes for the parts:)

Revell-Monogram Revellution Demon Funny Car
Revell Hawaiian Demon Funny Car
MPC 1969 Dodge Cgarger "General Lee"
MPC 1974 Dodge Charger Street Machine
Also picked up off Ebay a couple of months ago a 1/24 Tennessee Thunder Transporter with car for $28
Still wanting a 1968 Dodge Charger with the correct side-marker moldings.
I'm not sure how rare any of these kits are compared to the ones listed in the other replys but they were rare for me and they were kits that I liked and got them all for great prices.

I'm not sure if any these are rare, but they certainly took me a while to find:
Monogram Lotus Esprit Sport 300
Tamiya Cabin Nissan R89C
Hasegawa Jaguar XJR-8 (with the Silk Cut decals)
And these are kits that I had never heard of, but was smart enough to buy when I saw them:
Modeler's Tyrrell 019 (plastic kit, full engine detail)
Revell b+b Porsche 928 Targa
That Tamiya fc kit is still eluding me, though...

have been looking for AMT's 1997 Camaro SS OOP kit for about 3 years. Hopefully they will rerelease it (they rereleased the 94, 97 vert camaro's, and a whole bunch of other cars). Searched online, local hobby shops.. damn, i really want it. And even Lindbergs big 1:20 scale 1997 Camaro SS i cant seem to find.

I have a few rare ones waiting to be built. Being a Datsun nut they are of course all Datsuns :iceslolan ...
This one is very rare... a 1968 Datsun 510 Bluebird rally car made by Eidai. The car is based on one from a Japanese film called "5000kms to glory" that was made in 1969...

This is actually a Fujimi kit. This is the same as a US spec Datsun HL510 or Aussie Stanza but with a different grille. This one needs some radical work to make it into something good, like maybe making it a drag car or something....

This is one of my favorites. I'm looking forward to building something cool with this one! This is a Datsun 1200 coupe made in 1/22 scale by Marui...

And another Datsun 1200 coupe but made by Pit-Road. I'll be building this as show on the box but with some extra detailing..

Another one I'm looking forward to doing is this 1/16 scale Nissan Skyline coupe by Otaki. This will make an awesome model. Not decided what exactly to do with it yet though. The box is huge..that little model in front of it is 1/43 scale!...

Lastly, this one will take some work as it's not high on detail but I have never seen another model of a 1966 Datsun Bluebird like this. It's 1/24 by a company called Master. I've seen a few pictures of one of these made into a works rally car in a Japanese mgazine so I might try that as it looked cool...
