I have been fortunate that I have not had many problems with my 2003 Windstar so far.

The major problem is that after driving with the AC on, after I shut it off and it has time to cool, I have problems restarting. It will start but them almost immediately stall. The battery indica(or comes on. I have to sit in park with slight pressure on the throttle for almost 5 minutes or it will stall again.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

It sound exactly like the Idle Control Valve (IAC) sticking.
It must be intermittent right now....
I would try cleaning it......if that does not help, you may need a new one.
It sounds like it is not maintaining the correct Idle speed under the hot conditions.
The IAC is a air valve that is motor driven, the PCM (computer) opens and closes the opening as needed to maintain the desired IDLE speed.

On other thing to keep in mind, if the battery light is coming on......could be from the idle being too low, or it could be a weak battery and/or alternator.
If you still have the original battery, it is now 7 years old.
While being 7 years old does not automatically mean that it is bad......some last many years, anything from 5 years on is getting into that time where you are more likely to have a battery issue.
A weak battery, one that keeps drawing current, places a load onto the alternator, which is why the 2 often fail around the same time.
A weak battery can also kill your fuel economy........and also cause all kinds of strange electrical / electronic problems.
