So I had the tranny rebiult under warranty, put new rotors and pads,4 brand new top of the line hurcules tires ans a set of fast wheel rims on my car and still have a front end shimmy from 80 ,90 100 110 km's an hour,120 km's and up she smoohts out, brought car back cause i thought the balance was out but tried the original rims and tires back on her the shake is still there, had a wheel alinement done same thing, all front end is good,no difference in front shimmy with the old rotors and the new ones, motor mounts and tranny mounts are good, only thing thats left now could it be worn cv axels, wheel bearings are good,I jacked up the car off the ground and one side at a time put the car in drive and brought the car up to 80km and up and can feel the same shake i get on the highway, when i did the pass side she was shaking also so i think it may be the cv shafts worn or out of balance, anyone got any views on that.their is a slight nudging on the drivers side when starting off from a start and the shift from 1st to 2nd gear gives a slight vibration when she changes gears, tried the 360 from turning the wheel from the left and right but no clicking or clunking

The shudder, is it in the steering wheel or just generally in the front end, many things can cause this, based on what was done and your process of elimination, an inner cv joint on one of the ft axles could be the culprit, from here we cannot really accurately diagnose this.

you can rebuild the inter c/v joint but i would get the whole half shaft then it would elimanate the c/v's on that side.

Doesn't sound like an axle shaft. the inner cv's usually shudder over deep bumps and on hard accel as the tripot is unable to slide and change length. I would look at a tire with a bad road force variation issue. So this had done this with 2 sets of tires and wheels? Make sure there is no play in the front hubs and bearings also. Did this start after the trans was done?

Did this start after the trans was done? no it did not start when the tranny was done, last year i hit a real good bump on the pass side and has not been the same since, the car still drives straight with little or any play in the steering but has a shake, now just a few mins agao while driving out the highway a loud vibration like metal was scrapping coming from the pass side,i pulled over tightened my lugs got in the car and thought it was fine but it came back again, then it goes away and comes back, not sure what it can be,it almost sounds like a real bad wheel bearing but is off and on so i don't know,i am baffled, you know if your driving on the highway and you run over the grouves like speed bumps, the cuts that are along the highway and give you that feeling like your going over a metal gratted bridge, thats what its like on my right side pass side but comes and goes i guess if the bearing is bad thats where i'm getting the front end vibration up through my steering wheel

i might be cheaper on rebuild the inner but you do that but you do that might be outer one but you don't hear no clicking when you turn wheel right or left right? theres balls inside with needle bearings but cup be wore on inner jacket. so you may try bearing first and it will be a little cheaper going that route. but really no clicking i don't really know. i would start with bearing. sure it's not a tire huh?
good luck anyway on the way you deside to go first.........

Thanks for all the info what the problem we found was the outer tie rod was gone real bad with lots of looseness and no grease and the front wheel bearing both on the pass side, the wheel bear was gone real bad,got new tie rod and wheel bearing had a wheel alinement and took care of all the shaking in the front end and vibration in the steering wheel, funny thing is had the another garage check the front end and they sais it was fine, guess it depends on who you see to get things done right, thanks
