Need help with 00-05 Impala springs/struts

Is anyone out there familiar with the various factory suspension versions for the base 00-05 Impala? I'm particularly interested in the 2001 base model. I know there is a firm/not firm distinction between the LS and the base, and I'm not concerned with that. I am wondering about the difference in height between the 00-01 years and the 02-05 years for the regular base model. The 00-01's have a noticeably higher profile to them. If you look at these cars you'll see a much larger fenderwell gap as compared to the later 02-05's. I suspect Chevy shaved the spring height a bit to give the car a little sleeker look. Is there a different part number for the 00-01 spring/strut/mouting pad as compared to the 02-05? I happen to be in the minority that likes the higher profile, and I need to find a rear replacement spring/strut to match the original. Is the junkyard my only option? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Check with a parts house see if the springs or struts for those year cars carry differnt part numbers. Or a Chev dealer.

My buddy has the 01 and we found at the local auto parts store the shocks & strut all in one for about $180. His car is sagging (sitting lower than we think it should) and when you push it it will bounce more than one or two times. But these are not hard to find, just about any auto parts store should carry them or be able to order them in for you. If your just looking to replace them with the original or you want to try the 02-05 just tell the parts store what year you want.
