The Head has been slightly redesigned from the GSR. The springs, valves and retainers are all different for better high RPM control. The cam is a higher lift cam. The head recieved a slight port and polish from the factory in the form of a mild cleaning of the valve seats and such. The throttle body is bigger and the injectors might have changed as well. The pistons are domed for a higher compression ratio and the transmission has tighter gearing and an LSD for better power delivery. The ECU has also been tuned for better power delivery and high RPM engine protection.

No the type r isn't very well suited for boost.

yeah, the head is hand port and polished. the b18c1 has two intake ports per valve (or cylinder)? and in the b18c5 they were made into one larger port.

good catch, i almsot forgot about secondary intake runner support on the gsr and not on the type r. thats why when us ludes go hondata we need p78 ecu's from an obd1 gsr to keep the secondary inatke runners.
