240sx alternatives?

ahhh! i'm getting really impatient...i've been looking for an s14 since june around here(within 100 miles) and havn't had any luck. i know i don't really need a car yet, but i want one.

what should i do?
i see alot of s13's for sale, but i dont really want one...

here's my other option, 300zx...but probably not twin turbo, i can't find one of those either. actually, i'd rather have a TTz than a 240, but i've had even worse luck looking for those...

i know nissanpdr had a 240 and now a 300, but i think his is a TT. stock vs. stock, an NA 300zx vs. a 240sx, the 300 will win, but with an NA, there isn't much you can do to a 300z...after intake, headers, exhaust, ecu, pulleys,...that's pretty much it. unless i was to get nitrous.(or do the TT conversion, which is a possibility, i was willing to do an sr swap, the TT conversion wouldn't be much harder).

nissanpdr- ever drift the 300zx?

maybe an FCRX-7, but i dunno about that, rotary=matienence
mr2? eh, i dunno...

this is kinda off the 240sx topic

If you are 16, then insurance on a 300 will most likely be too much. Yeah NISSANSPDR's 300 is N/A and he has quite a few mods on it.
You could always get an MR2 and then do the GSGTE swap.

maybe(3sgte), i'll have to research it more...

as far as insurance.. it's only $15 a month more for a 300 compared to an s14...havn't checked on the mr2...

how does this sound...1992 300zx NA, 145k miles(alot, heh), new pretty much everything, maintence has been kept up on and he has records to prove it(driven by a 60 year old guy), it's really clean, no dents or anything, interior is pretty much perfect...$5000

nah i don't think i want an mr2.
i want a 300z or an s14...

maybe an NA 300zx will be better for a first car(well first car that isn't a 4500lbs. SUV). low 15's stock, i/h/e, mid-high 14's...that'll get all the hondas off my ass. then if i really feel the need later on, the NA - TT conversion is becoming more and more popular(do-able).
maybe it will be better(keep me alive longer? lol)...cuz if i got a 240, it wouldn't be stock for long(nsport or sr20). that's worse(faster) than a stock TT 300z.

Im tempted to trade in my S14 for a 2nd gen MR2. They are about the same speed wise, but the MR2 handles a little better, and is a LOT more reliable....plus its one of the hottest looking cars ever to come out of japan.

However, I'll probably stick with my 240 because I need the extra practicality.

Alternatives to a S14:
-Well cared for low mileage FC
-Miata (:coolguy: )
-2nd gen MR2
-MK3 supra turbo
-'87 Grand National.....whoops did i just say that?

drove an s14 and that 300zx today...

s14 was a 1995 (automatic, that's why i didn't buy it a long time ago) with 119k miles. it was alright. suspension was getting kinda loose with that many miles and the tranny was slop(i wouldn't get an auto anyway).

300zx had 145k miles on it, but had new pretty much everything. handled like a dream. much faster than the 240. i liked the interior a lot better(layout, color was nasty).

anyway, i'm going get a 300zx. not that one, 145k miles is a bit too much, plus it had some dents and lots of scratches. i found another one with 90k that i'm inquiring about.

i geuss the 240 has alot more potential in the long run than an NA 300zx, but that 300 looked so badass(especially in my driveway..the guy only lived a few minutes away so he brought it to my house to look at). and for now, i think the 300 will be fast enough.

ummm Fliquer if you trade in your S14 i'd be glad to have my dad take it in at his nissan dealership and give you a trade in on it, expecially if its a 96-98, cuz i cant find that year range for shit down here in Jacksonville, Florida and he hasnt gotten any in at his dealership. hehehe juss messin, NC is bit of a way from jacksonville. but ya, good 5-speed S14's are hard to come by down here, found one and they sold it.

i called the insurance company today to make sure of what a 300zx is going to cost me...it's only $80 a month and i'm insured for a 300 and the blazer. that's full coverage with $250 collision and comp. deductable. i'm getting a $30 a month discount because i'm going to go to the insurance company and watch a video about safe driving.

i bought a 300zx. well not yet, it's mine, i'm going saturday to pay for it and bring it home.
92 NA, charcoal exterior, dark grey interior. new clutch, tires, battery, timing chain, ect, ect, ect. Lady driven, babied, all records. Perfect inside and out except for a few tiny door dings on the passengers side. 8300. Kinda steep price, but I was willing to pay the price for one that perfect.

8,300 sounds about right, expecially if its in good condition, congratulations on the 300zx, themz are fast, speaking of getting cars, i found a 95 240sx SE 5speed, its got front lip and every thing, great condition, 113,000 miles, for $4,900, and since my dad works for the dealership chain (works for a Nissan dealership owned by the same people) i can get it at what the dealership owns it for, not with the markup, so you think this is a good price? i really dunno if i want a 95 but i'm getting despirate, no 1997-1998's 5-speed anywhere near me.

if you want to check out the one i'm looking at click here
