Ferrari Expo-Strictly 43rd Revival 2010

We are pleased to announce the Ferrari Expo -Strictly 43rd Revival will again be held at Continental Autosport Ferrari on April 24th 2010.

We will be having our model contest for Lemans, Indy, F1, TransAm and sportscars. This is a high quality contest with some of the best builders from the USA, Mexico and Canada attending. Several NNL and IPMS Mexico winners will display models. Also many Ferrari/Maserati/Porsche automobiles will be on display.

In 2009 Continental Autosport gave rides in the then new Ferrari California for charity. They also had several rare vintage Ferrrari's on display. This is one show you will not want to miss, and its FREE!!

Here are several links from the 2009 Ferrari Expo:

The show is at Continental Autosports Ferrari/Maserati in Hinsdale, Illinois. It is 15 minutes from Chicago O'hare airport.

Hope some of you can make it again.

Re: Ferrari Expo-Strictly 43rd Revival 2010

Only 3 short months until the Ferrari Expo 2010-Strictly 43rd Revival model/photo contest. These contests are held in conjunction with the 29th annual Ferrari Expo Literature and Art show. It will be held on April 24th 2010 at Continental Autosport Ferrari/Maserati in Hindsdale, Illinois.

We have several top modelers from all over the USA planning on bringing models again this year. We also have several superb modelers flying in from Mexico, some of the best modelers I have ever seen. Ramon Garcia, a forum member will be helping organize this again. These models will be worth the trip by themselves!!

We will have a "new model kit table" and a "primer table" this year.

Hope some of you can make it again.

You can enter non Ferrari sportscars/racecars in the model contest(Trans Am, road racing, Indy, F1, Lemans ect. ). They mainly have real Ferrari/Porsche/Maserati cars or vintage sportscars in the showroom.

One of the first Ferrari 458's in North America will be on display.

Re: Ferrari Expo-Strictly 43rd Revival 2010

Here are a few shots of my models from Ferrari Expo 2009. I only display my models at the show, an option all of you can use. I think Ramon Garcia and others would beat me with their superb models anyway, so by not entering I save my ego The Alfa 8C is 1/24th and based on the Welly diecast coupe. It really is a great diecast. All these models are 1/24th. I did enter several 1/43rd models also.

Re: Ferrari Expo-Strictly 43rd Revival 2010

Well last year we had M&M hobbies with several tables of 1/43rd models. Stradasports also had 2 tables. Ebay is killing good 1/43rd and larger scale resin kit swap meets I must admit. Strictly 43rd was really big before Ebay started to get big. Thats why we are turning this into more of a model contest and model display. We do have new resin model kits on display, brought in by manufactures but not as many private vendors. I think they already know bidding prices on ebay will beat any show sale price. There are alot more plastic kit vendors because there are alot more common plastic kits, but I know that's not what your looking for.
The group of modelers that are now coming to this event annually are very talented, so you will enjoy the company and the competition. We do have alot of book and high end art dealers at the show also. I am working on getting more of the old Strictly 43rd guys to show up again this year. I want to arm twist Don Anderson into judging if he will.

Re: Ferrari Expo-Strictly 43rd Revival 2010

Almost finished my first model for this years show. Its a Euro California in 1/24th scale. The kit is by Revell and the wheels/photoetch are Hobby Design. Nice kit that was easy to build. Windows fit like a glove

.

Nice California! So, did the HD wheels fit perfectly, or did you have to do some fiddling?

Those are the kit tires, but I did drop the suspension. The real car does not sit like that unless its on the low setting. The Revell ride height is the stock high setting.

The Revell kit is very nice. The windows mount from the outside, so they fit as good as I have seen on a plastic kit.

You can always drop the model off the night before the show as we set up the tables then. We will lock it up tight with all the real Ferrari's, Maserati's, Porsche's ect.

Re: Ferrari Expo-Strictly 43rd Revival 2010

90 % done with my Fujimi 1/24th Dino 246 Lemans 1972 conversion model. The starting point was the wheels wich are available from a gentleman in Belgium who sells them with the Daytona seats.

Studio 27 did make a decal sheet for this car. The tires and body modifications I did myself. Photoetch is from Hobby Design and includes window frames.
If you want to see the finished Dino it will be at the Ferrari Expo along with many top quality builds from the USA, Mexico and Canada.

See you all at the Ferrari Expo 2010. I want to finish 4 models myself for the show.
