Fiat 500

Hi Guys, here is the new Fiat 500 of Fujimi finished box stock. I built it for my wife so it looks rather a girl-car than a sport one especially for the body color. Almost everything is box stock, BMF added instead of the kit decals for the chrome parts and that's it. Here are the pics, I hope you like it:

Thanks for your attention, any C&C are welcome!

Re: Fiat 500

It looks great but are the wheels not sticking out too much?

Nice to see this kit!!! The back wheels do seem like they are sticking out a bit.

Re: Fiat 500

Hi guys,

I'm new here, this is my first reply after my signing up to this forum.
First I'd like to share my congratulations with all of you, your works are always magnificent and giving inspiration in every way!

Particularly speaking of this project, it is the first time I see the "CINQUINO" ( the Fiat 500 is called in this way here in Italy ) by Fujimi, apart from images in Fujimi's web site.
Excellent paint job and great choice of color !

Question for Janositamas: did you face particular difficulties in assembling it? Is this kit in your opinion at the same level of latest Fujimi issues and reflective of your expectatives?

thank you in advance"

Re: Fiat 500

Thank you guys! Yes, the wheels don't fit perfectly, maybe it's my bad but I just can't push it more in as the whole thing feels so fragile to me. Anyhow, the tires aren't perfect by the way as originally Fiat offers this type of rim in 2 different size: 185/55 with 15" rims and 195/45 with 16" rims. The tire markings say 215/50 15" on it and this size of rim/tire combo is not available from Fiat, maybe some aftermarket. Never mind...

Cobra11, as for your question: difficulties during the build? Well, the one-piece glass is easy to sit in place on the front end but doesn't seem to fit at the rear end, and during the assembly of the bodyshell and finished chassis the body is stretched so watch out for the previosly glued rear and front bumper not to break off. And that's it, otherwise not a bad kit, but there's a big difference in the details of the front and rear seats, and replacing the stock rims requires so much work because of the size (mostly the width I mean) of the stock rims.

Re: Fiat 500

I had just completed this model as well.
I changed the rims from a diecast model. The one from the kit is 15" and mine is 16".

However, I had also encounter the unfit problem of the rims. At first I modified the diecast rims post at the back side to match the original one, and then when I try to dry-fit the kit, I found the wheels are sticking out of the fender too much. I thought it was my diecast wheel problem so I put the original wheels on, and it was same.

And if you take a look at the official Fujimi page, their finished model wheels are sticking out of the fender as well......

As I was hurrying for a local model show some days ago, I don't have enough time to have further modify. To make it simple, I throw away the rotating brake disc as I think nobody can see it through the multi spoke rims(LOL!!). Wow. The wheels (either original kit one or my diecast one) fit perfectly now.

So I think the engineering team had forget there is a material thickness for the brake disc during they develope the wheel???

Not only this. After painting, I assemble the kit and found the fitting was way too tight. Especially the windows and side signal light. There is no way to snap them into the molded openings. Now even you dry fit an unpainted kit you will find the fitting is pretty tight. I think they did not take care about the added thickness after layers of paintings and top coatings. Molds were build tooooooo tight fit!

BTW below is few shots of my Fiat 500 from the model show:

Re: Fiat 500

Thank you for your reply Janositamas!

Effectively all in all it seems to be a nice kit.

Hope that guys at Fujimi will think to issue the Abarth version as well !

Re: Fiat 500

Thank you LauBak, your completed build looks very hot also! I think I also will get rid of the brake discs then to make the rims fit better, thanks for idea!
