GDF Preview: Extreme detail RB26DETT out April 2009

Hi fellows.
Let me to tell something about a dream turned in to reality (after several years)

I' ever been amazed by Clay and Steve's extreme detailed Nascar, I think one day I'll try to follow their steps, but I ever dreamed about a GTR built with those deep attention for details. The juce is : it's from ages that I wonder about a detailed RB26DETT, to use it on my skylines. R32 Tamy engine may be a first solution, but after you seen a HRM 917 engine you simply CAN'T use the R32 stuff. Yep, I love skylines, I think most of my built stuff are racing skylines, so years ago I started to think about. I ever taken clear my goal: the engine would be used in the car BUT ALSO outside, to rend the racing/tuner atmosphere in a cool dio, so metal gaskets, cylinder details, PE IC and stuff make more sense now

The person who helped me more with very kind ref material is Steve aka Hiroboy, may be Steve forgot, but at time when he founded his own business he sent me something special to help me in my project: it kept some time but I have almost done the job now . Other guy I must thanks like ever is my mate Andy/MPWR, ever helpful supporting and contributing with new/different ideas, and mostly digesting my "italenglish".

I started to design all parts I needed, detailed crankase, racing valvle covers, water and oil pumps, finally some good turbos and the whole injection system: let me show how it come out.

It would be for sale ever in my own style (straight from modeler to modeler, no shops) in mid/late april: casted in white metal, I'm valutating also to offer a second block casted in resin to achieve less weight.

This was the "ideal" goal for a sporty GTR:

And the following for a racing one

So I started to 3D design what needed:

And a couple exploded views

So to switch the dream to reality I used a dream gear , last gen rapid prototyping

Than the second part of the job: being an avid MFH collector I know very well how disappointing would be clean at die a prototyped part: I must say my proto parts show less and smaller proto-marks (layers scratch), I wanted to do at least a good part of the cleaning job on my masters; you will also notice how a good 90% of parts are new/scratch, and how remaining parts from R32 engine are havily modified.

Yep, a good PE sheet included in the pack , don't worry: this is just home made proto, a service is still now etching my parts with the usual great quality

Some mock-up: I didn't stressed too much (in fact I broken one pin...) master's parts so you'll see some "large" fitting somewhere.

And finally the racing stuff, with water and oil pumps mounted

Like I said, out over April. Please don't contact me before the "for sale" announcment.

Following the second part of the dream: a PE set for racing GTR ('99-02) but probably usable also on R33s, with extreme discs details, resin/metal calipers with pads, interior details, and a machined set with Ohlins/Nismo dampers: I'll show protos but I must see how sales go before take this commitment: machined parts costs

Than I'll turn my attention on italian subjects for a whyle

Obviously April is also the great time to share the Porsche 356 cooling fins set: it would be for sale in same period. New site www.gdetailfactory.com is now registeredand and would be online quick with collections and news.

Thanks guys for your kind attention.

Beautiful engine! You did a great job on it.

Where did you get all the required data over this engine?

Re: GDF Preview: Extreme detail RB26DETT out April 2009

You know I'm looking forward to it!!! (And what I have lined up for it!)

With all the cool bits included (like the spectacular turbos), I think my favorite parts may just be the etched clutch plates and head gasket. I just gotta do an engine rebuild dio with this one.

And it will be perfect for Tamiya's new Altima kit!

Outstanding! No matter what the price on this baby is going to be, I'm buying at least two sets of each version (got too many engineless Skyline kits in my stash!). Incredible job Gio.

If you're not so familiar with the RB26DETT, it is the engine that Nissan put in the previous three Skyline GT-Rs- the R32, R33, and R34. (The current new GT-R has a V6). It is also a very popular 'drop in' for some other Nissans, like older Fairlady Zs. Tamiya included a usable RB26 in their first R32 kit, but their R33 and R34 kits have been curbsides. Gio has designed this one so it should work great in both street or racing Skylines.

some comparison shots with the existing Tamiya R32's RB26DETT would be really good.

Thanks, Jano11. I do read very carefully and my reading comprehension is high. But the expression "would be online quick" is imprecise, to say the least. The URL doesn't lead anywhere as though it doesn't exist at all. I realize English is not his Muttersprache or langue maternelle, but the phrase he used doesn't mean much, therefore, my original question, which still stands and which I'll now amend: When will the URL work?

If you realised this, then you should have, as I did, take it to mean "be online soon".
It is also probably safe to assume that if he had a date, he would've given it.

Ahhh, now it has all been made clear. Thanks so much to the both of you for the language lessons. And so sorry for the bother, everybody. I can never find the tempest whenever I look in the teapot. Patiently, so patiently, I'll wait for some further announcement of the "go-live" date for that URL. In the meantime I'll try to control my anxiety and perhaps work on my skills at inference.

@ChillyB: http://www.gdetailfactory.com/ is online, but I think this wouldn't help. I have an italian vision of "quick", yes probably imprecise.

@DM: Your is probably a good idea: I'll do a comparo "quick" J/K, I'll try to do a dry mount of the R32 engine this night and take few shots, thanks.

Thanks guys for your feedback and support!

Have you also had a look at the Aoshima and Fujimi (resin) engines?

I know a few people that have previously bought Aoshima/Fujimi kits purely for the engine so as a side line, it might be worthwhile you just offering the detailing parts aside from the main engine block.
